you get what you pay for. My misguided belief is that the quality shippers and receivers won't have the time or patience to put up with Amazon has to offer at those rates. It may tank the spot market, but I doubt it will have much affect on the contract market.
My 2 cents
Amazon now a Freight Brokerage, Slashing rates 30% below market nationally.

They probably are going to have their owner operators haul a lot of it. They are already hauling cheap so no change for them. I heard Amazon is buying up pretty much every trailer they can find.

Bring empty take loaded.
Depending on the shippers volume that’s how many trailers they get.

It will be no different than any of the other companies that offer ridiculously low Owner Operator rates. The suckers are lined up wanting to haul for them. Why pay drivers a good rate when they are content with running for $1.09 plus surcharge?
PoleCrusher and Midwest Trucker Thank this. -
Amazon really hasn’t done anything wrong, they have just gamed the system at every turn. If they paid taxes and didn’t exploit the USPS I’d probably be fine with them. It’s the unfair advantages they received that make it frustrating trying to compete with them.

I prefer that Politics do not enter here.
Remember, we can only live with whatever it is the morning brings. We do not decide if we get to have tomorrow.
There are people who have lost all their tomorrows and the heavy lifting on some of you relating to politics is not exactly welcome.
There is a unmoderated forum and a password that is simple to access that forum and if you wish to level the stuff try to have it there.
If Truckers hauling for 1.00 a mile are forced to get a load at 0.70 a mile, they'll starve. That's the threat from Amazon.
When all the trucks have been removed Economically from the Amazon's Realm, they will go ahead and charge oh... 5.00 a mile and hand the trucker 1.25 and there will be praises sung to the rafters of their fulfilled centers.Metallica88 Thanks this. -
