My truck has an APU, sort of. I have the Park Air system, which has a seperate unit to control AC and Heat from the bunk area. A select few of the trucks have this system, mine is a 2011 Cascadia.
That's not an apu, just an auxiliary heating/cooling system that runs off extra batteries. An apu (auxiliary power unit) is a small diesel engine that runs a separate heating/cooling system as well as a generator to supply power to the truck and keep the batteries charged.
lease trucks dont have a ambiant sensor and they have like 6 extra batterys so they will run a verylong time and recharge through running your truck
APU: Auxiliary Power Unit The thermoking is not an apu. It's an auxiliary a/c unit. Lease trucks don't have ambient sensors because Schneider isn't paying there fuel...
Depending on how good your batteries are and how much u tax it they last around 10-12 hours. Then you have to idle the tractor to charge those batteries. If I got that set up I'd ask for the shore power and power invertor ad ons. Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Xparent Cyan Tapatalk 2
Don't come to Schneider there horse #### and there idling rule blows. I'm in ####### Indy OC 3 hours into 10hour break and bunk heater dies. Get up go to the shop they say they can work on it on the 27. So what can I do I ask his responce Eskimo it up. Get more blankets and wear layered clothing to bed. Screw that bull ####. In 17 years I've never been more mad then I'm tonight, morning. I'm calling ops for another truck. Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Xparent Cyan Tapatalk 2
It is an APU any power that does not come from your main truck batterys or your alt is auxiliary power by definition.
