American trucks are so much better than European trucks

Maybe 12%, I don't remember. 6% is quite normal in southern-Europe, is that something exceptional in US? In Norway there's a lot of 12-14% climbs, and snow and ice.

 

there is lot of steep and short incline in my area and atego get problems with spinning clutch (starts to smell)while you are climbing on very very steep hill

but not problems with traction and similar


i remember some 26% incline in austria

 

Yup it goes down in steps, right from the tunnel is 22% then levels to about 8% then 22% then about 12% the rest of the way down

Thats doing that because the weight is transferred off the tag axle. The fifth wheel is mounted behind the drive axle on those, it's actually used for snow and ice, normally you wouldn't take all the weight off like this but it gives superior traction compared to even a double drive

 

Their needs to be some kind of driver exchange program we should do. If you haven't experienced both worlds and the 2 different styles of driving you can't really compare mostly everyone is assuming.

I've experience first hand driving in Europe on European roads and trucks for about 2 weeks. Yeah I know 2 weeks isn't much but we covered a fair amount of ground. Using magnets to trick the recorders.

I'd wanna try australian driving first hand but have no family their or any freinds their to do this.

Maybe that's a idea. Start a forign exchange driving program. Experience first hand driving as a O/O in the country you'd like to see if that's something you wanna do or can handle.

Hah! the first problem for US driver would be Tachograph use. It is not a logbook!!!! No chance to do something wrong w/o recording it!
