How do you now it is good stuff? As an example of an pil that is not recommended. Transynd is the oil recommended for Allison automatic transmissions. Allison markets that oil. Many other oil companies sell an approved equivalent. Amsoil does not but claim their oil is just as good. I do not use synthetics but the Shell product is first class.
Because if their oil had a reputation of damaging engines, they wouldn't be in business for fifty years, and still growing. Analyze the oil. Additive package, base, shear strength, etc. You don't actually have to run the oil to see if it's good. I've never met anyone who uses Rotella in a racing engine. And I put Transynd in my A1000's first chance I get. And I'm not trying to be argumentative. I've just never heard anything negative about Amsoil before, other than it's expensive. They've built a reputation on being top notch stuff.
Using your logic then most oils in the marketplace are good. But that may be partially true. Shell, delo and probably 10 others are all good. Today's oils are not like those of 30 years ago. I had an oil engineer at a truck show tell me that many of the popular Dino oils are every bit as good as synthetics. Unless you are in the far north. Today's engines have also changed.
Oh, absolutely. These days even the "worst" oils are excellent. Dino oil can even be labeled as synthetic if it meets certain requirements, even though it doesn't have an ester base. You really can't go wrong with engine oil anymore.
If you folks are curious about oils and stuff, go look up Project Farm on Youtube. Guy does some real good, no BS analysis of lubricants, shop tools and other products like that.
"We're gonna test that!" Honestly, my favorite part about that guy is he always seems like he's about to burst into laughter, and trying to hold it back.
I find schaeffers to be more expensive than amsoil. I have an amsoil account and get there best oil at a better price. Don’t know if I’m missing something with schaeffers. Just bought their 238 grease hopefully it’s good. I can’t get my hands on amsoils heavy duty grease, been out of stock for months now.
Any chance you can provide a link to this, sir ? I'd love to read up on it... I'm currently using Mobil 1 (in my 4 wheelers) was thinking of switching to Amsoil.
