    On top of that,Congress has constantly tried to starve out Amtrak of funds ever since it was founded 50 some odd years ago. And back then Amtrak was trying to make do initially with hand me down equipment from railroads that ceased passenger operations that was in poor shape to begin with!

    The farmer in the area that has been on the news told the news media that he’s been involved with BNSF the state and the county to get that railroad crossing repaired for safety reasons and he states that last summer over $400,000 was approved to fix that railroad crossing and that Amtrak signed off on it the state signed off on it and BNSF signed off on it but BNSF & the state just went about their business and didn’t do anything with it

    If 80 mph trains are tagging vehicles I can’t imagine what the 160 mph trains approved in Texas will do when they tag vehicles.

    Surprisingly you don’t hear about it much along the Northeast Corridor where Amtrak tries to run the trains at 125 mph!
    OTOH, with trains going that fast there aren’t as many grade crossings.
