No I am not saying that we need the government to control this. What I am saying is that our government screwed us with deregulation. As far as companies go yes the better majority of them do lie just to get drivers and truck owners to sign on with them and then they can not make what they say they can do happen. I have been in this business since 1982 and I have seen alot of this. No not every company out there is this way but the ones that are not liers are few and far between. When it comes down to D O T and the people that write the laws that regulate the trucking industry, those people shoud have some experiance in the industry so they understand what is going on out here. In the regs it says shippers and recievers has a 2 hour window from the appointment time to load or unload you. After that is detention. Lets see after 2 hours we can report a kidnapping, hijacking of a fed regulated vehical. I have done this before. That company is no longer in business. Should all drivers start to do this??
There are alot of changes that need to be made in this industry and we need to make most of them but there are some that we need to work together with the government. What is so hard to figure out about that???:biggrin_25513:

NOPE as you can see I was referring to lucifer who posted a very violent post in your thread.
He went to the extreme of even posting a violent photo with it and describing in detail what to do to people.

We had to edit your thread because of it.

Don't want that on this BOARD. We keep The Truckers Report at a higher level then that.

    Thanks

I can appreciate what you are trying to do. There is one problem though. The government is now a Corporate Government. It looks out for corporate interests because who do you think is paying for the politicians earmarks?

The only way that you can make a successful strike work is if ALL, or MOST truckers park their rigs and take a two week vacation at their homes with their families. I wouldn't count on anyone in Washington listening. The only voices that the politicians hear is MONEY and their own profits. Do you really think they will go against their interests for us? I don't think so. If truckers wanted to go on a "let's park it for a while" strike, I would be willing to help promote it. This is the only thing that I can see that will work. Another note to help promoting it is address this issue all along the I 70 corridor since that is the busiest highway in the nation. I live pretty much right along the interstate and I could go to the truck stops in my area and hand out flyers. Folks, we need to get this off the ground.

Deregulation was not all bad, I for one enjoy being able to have fresh fruit and vegetables year round. It is unlikely that without deregulation I would even have this job as that I live out in the corn patch away from any highways. Deregulation just meant that people had to compete instead of having a choke hold on their own fiefdoms. Some competed well and grew others fell by the wayside, happens in every industry. It tends to be good for the winners and the losers, well hopefully they learn and come back stronger. It is tough, I will grant you that and I hope you find success. I am curious though where did you find this reg about being unloaded in two hours? That is interesting if it is true. I hope it isn't good ol' trucker wishful thinking (I am Guilty of that). If a company lies and is crooked that isn't a government issue but rather a consumer issue. The consumers being perspective drivers. The onus is and should be on us to do our due diligence when picking a company. These boards provide just one valuable tool toward that end. Again on a personal note I hope you and yours are well in these tough times and hope you have many bright days coming.
