    Curious,

I am going to school in December. I just got my permit today and will do my DOT physical next week. I am learning from a family friend and mentor.

I don't need to know you to know that you are enthusiastic to learn and I wholeheartedly support you in that regard.

I just don't think you are qualified to give some of the advice that I see you giving.. That's not meant to be insulting, just my opinion..

Don't sweat it KH, IMHO, NONE of us are worth a #### til after 40, and we've been knocked on our ***es a few times. You go right ahead and put up all you can figure out, and maybe the guys with first hand experience with leases will keep adding value to the thread.

I think it's your tone that sets some off. There's a difference between knowing some stuff, and KNOWING something from experience. Without a bruise or two on your own arse, you can't tell people what not to sit on.

    KH..

I really have nothing against you..I think you want to learn and am glad to see that. I will tell you honestly though that it is also VERY concerning because what I am "seeing" is someone who has never driven or lived this life already getting the "know a whole lot" attitude. When you are a driver and you get that BAD stuff usually happens.

As for exhibit a. good job!Having an opinion on a trl is NOT the same as suggesting companies. KH I have been driving 5 years (still green in my eyes) and I don't suggest companies. Do I have opinions like others of certain companies? Sure do..But I will NOT make suggestions. If I have worked somewhere I will answer to the best of MY knowledge. My experiences will differ from everyone elses. Until a person has worked for a company how can they KNOW what it really is like. Yes, I can and do read the boards for what others are saying but even I know there are a LOT of variables in these love/hate relationships between drivers and companies. In a way I equate the talking about companies like gossip. You #### well better KNOW the source!

It is 40% of the new truck value. The difference between the so-called "$1 buyout" type leases and those with a balloon payment at the end is flexibility -- you might set aside money for the balloon or you might decide you want to get into a different truck. I believe HB will work out arrangements to finance the balloon as well, but for this type of question you should talk with Abby Reed there for the straight dope.

    Curious,

Tell me the following about Primes lease:

    How much are the payments?
What is the break even point on miles?
Are flatbed operators restricted to flatbed work or can they haul refeer loads?
Does Prime offer a demo lease?

Tanker: Starting at $760 per week
    Flatbed:
    Starting at $740 per week
    Refrigerated:
    Starting at $798 per week

    Variables can increase this amount.
Recent current weekly earnings per mile per dispatched truck were as follows:

    • $1.469 for the Flatbed division
    • $1.499 for the Refrigerated division
    • $1.704 for the Tanker division
Weekly average revenue per truck was as follows:

    • $3,490 for the Flatbed division
    • $3,645 (solo)/$5,950 (team) for the Refrigerated division
    • $3,375 for the Tanker division
You get paid: 72% of all line-haul revenues in the Refrigerated & Flatbed Divisions (70% in the Tanker division) generated by your truck.

Add the additional fixed and variable costs, and plug those numbers into Central Refrigerated's break even spreadsheet that you already copied and recreated all the formulas you then recreated in Excel to get that number. Prime doesn't have it on their site.

I think you're in a division, you're in a division, although Prime guys will know better.

Not Prime itself, but you may find someone wanting out of a lease before it's complete, and finish it out. What?!? Some people want to get OUT of their Prime leases before they finish and lease another??!!?

Well I wish companies would offer a demo lease. But I am thinking it would take away from them making money off potential l/p's stupid enough to do it and loose money while the company gains (no offense to anyone).
