Most of these companies closed because said labor was cheaper elsewhere, that's not HAVING to close. They absolutely chose to. Labor isn't an "excessive" cost, it's a necessary one. Lol there are still minimum requirements to keep a job, a union isn't going go call a strike because one employee failed to meet those standards. The only reason some of these "lazy" employees aren't let go is because there's actually a process with union workers, and they can't just fire them because the boss didn't like their hair color. I don't really know what you're expecting a union to do when a company closes down. Again like being mad at the fire department for your house burning down when your neighbor set it on fire. Honestly I don't really care one way or the other, just not getting the hate, from what I've seen you haven't ever worked for a union. I have. Didn't really notice any serious benefit, but no real downside either.
I should add that in said union job I worked, most of the effups were do to corporate. Like the genius idea of hiring enough employees to just give us our minimum hours, but then left no room to cut hours when we got raises so we were constantly over payroll. Btw I started at minimum wage and made I think $2 more when I left 4 years later, but sure union workers are overpaid. My mom was a teacher for 10 years. Wasn't the union that forked her, but "corporate" or I her case the administration. Like the principal that was such an abusive jackwad multiple teachers quit because of him. And the administration didn't do anything until he was caught having an affair with one of the secretaries. Or the other principal that gave my mom a bad review because she didn't do things the way she(the principal) wanted. Even though her class consistently tested above state average and problem kids were doing much better with her than previous teachers. Even though she left teaching over 10 years ago, she's getting a pension. I'll give you a guess as to why she's getting that pension, and it's not because of the district

 

So I was wrong about unions. Their not a bunch of whiney lazy #####, they're legal organized crime who shake you down every pay period for money for 'protection', that doesn't really protect you from anything....got it, my bad

 

Unions simply change one's employment status from 'At-Will' to 'Just-Cause'.

 

Looks like we are not the only ones being absorbed. Hornady is now part of COTC. I gave it 2 years and there will only be 3-4 companies in Daseke.

To be honest, I would have preferred to be partnered with COTC than Wylie since they're in our neighborhood, so to speak. There was a COTC driver who occasionally pulled glass out of Moore's Spring Hill yard (on Moore's trailers) and he seemed content with them. At least they don't have generic gray trucks.

same. I haven’t heard a bad thing about Cotc other then the 65 mph trucks. They have quite a few drivers that do social media and even go over pay stubs. If a driver wanted to do true otr and flatbed only that seams to be the place to go.
