Saw two SPD trucks with airplane wings come off the Blue Water Bridge today. A blue Volvo and a brown KW.

Change of plans for me. The boss man had me deliver my 1st stop, then bring the rest of the other stops to the Rancho yard and a local driver will deliver the remaining 2 Cali stops tomorrow. And the load going to AZ has been handled as well.

My Nag-a-gator says I have run almost 3900 miles since my reset last week, and my coach was about to turn into a pumpkin as I was pulling in the Rancho yard...my clock hit 00:00, one more red light and I would have been in violation. But the good news is I get good hours back tonight, Friday and Saturday, which I need because I got my next primo load. A preloaded light load going to St. Augustine, FL for Monday. I swear, I am either very lucky most of the times I am at this yard either being at the right place at the right time or the Rancho boss is taking pity on this poor old tired truck driver from FL...either way, I'll take it (with a smile on my face and Popeye's chicken grease on my fingers :D)

When I say a light load...I mean a light load. I have 4 pieces that are 300 lbs each...a whopping 1200 lb 2400 mile load.

A majority of mine are...maybe I am just one lucky S.O.B. I see as many coast to coast runs as a reefer hauler, but maybe it's what we haul that makes the difference.

Most places don’t run long haul flatbed. SPD isn’t most places. I averaged 1600 miles per load last year, that’s with doing quite a few sub 50 mile preloads for other guys.

People also buck when we say 4 weeks on the road minimum here. 6-8 weeks and you will make much better miles in my experience. You can run coast to coast and be home every weekend.

Well I was kind of right, they tagged 4 of the 48’ flats today to be sold. One is untagged and one has a load of fabricated pipe on it. Probably the load they were going to send SSB after. He got lucky, it’s ugly. 3 layers of pipe with a whole bunch of pallets of fittings stacked on top. Yuck.

I did some math last night (without taking off my shoes and socks) and the hours I am getting back to run this load to FL were the 1st 4 days after a reset. Dispatch said it's gonna be really tight, which it is...but in those 4 days after a restart I ran 2535 miles using exactly 41 hours with a 6,000 lb load thru the snow and ice of SD and western MT, thru Nashville, St. Louis, KC and the frontage road of the I-29 construction in Council Bluffs, and up the US routes between Kingfisher SD and Billings MT...plus the mountains across I-90 from MT to WA. So, this 2400 mile, 1200 lb load across a lot of flat ground shouldn't be a problem unless -there is a problem.
