I heard that 48k is the target for our lightening fleet as well. Gonna take a lot of equipment reduction to get us that low. Even that 680 I had was mid-35's pulling a normal flatbed with full tanks.

How much do you figure the connestoga tarp and frame add on? Am i correct assuming the lightweight setups will just be typical aluminium flatbed with regular/lightweight tarps?

I'm guessing around 7-800 lbs gross. When I was loading at the System terminal, they load you on axle scales so you're legal when you leave. They were able to load me with my conestoga all the way to the rear, and their rear scale had me 34,400 when it was open. When we closed it to pull out I was under 34k.

I've heard we are getting some conestoga kits because one of our drivers said we're gonna have issues with some of our loads because the kits they were ordering might not work with some of our taller loads. Not sure why, but they weren't looking forward to them. Plus, I was told by one of our teams that the team trucks are gonna get a dedicated conestoga married to their truck so they pull the same equipment all the time. Not sure if that is all teams, or just certain teams on a specific dedicated account.

I was suprised to see a double drop with a connestoga a couple weeks ago, would be interesting to know what sorta equipment that was meant to be hauling.

They are awesome for machine tools like CNC’s and larger welding robots and stations. I’m sure Boeing has some aircraft parts that would also make good use of that setup.

Wylie's glass double drop conestoga trailers were a nightmare. They had an upper track and a lower track like a single drop conestoga, but the legs of the frames were so long that they flexed and it was a fight to get them lined up on the upper track and if they ever missed the upper track and came off the lower track it took two men and a large boy(or a forklift or overhead crane) to pick them up and get them back on the track.

@kylefitzy posted a pic of one of the long conestoga trailers he has pulled in the past a while back.

Yeah I’m 32K with the midroof 680 next gen and our AL steps. We use APU’s like you but getting rid of the X-15’s really helped along with a shorter wheelbase.

I’m sure with midroofs you can shed some weight, especially with standard flats.

What’s your wheelbase? The picture floating around of the condo sure looks like a shorter then 244” wheelbase. That’s always been our standard.

If they go shorter then 244” and switch to enclosed headache racks, they are going to be smashing racks left and right. They tried some enclosed racks with a 244” wheelbase and they got crunched. I’ve even hit my rack a few times. This is obviously an abnormal load but I can’t run down the road with this guard open. 8ECD6DC7-45D0-4AB4-9DE4-0EBE9EDD61F5.jpeg
That’s at only about a 45 degree turn.

I’m 34000 with 300 gallons of fuel an x15 and an 18 speed.

moving to a paccar with a 12 speed auto should save 500 pounds. 100 on the trans and 400 on the engine. cut 100 gallons of fuel capacity and we are over halfway there. I also have full lockers that o don’t think the new trucks will have. I’m pretty sure this T-800 is heavier then a t680.

one of the locals posted a scale
Ticket of 71k with a 41k load. But he sometimes drives a day cab so it might not be relevant.

We got our new insurance cards...and I mean cards(plural). We have cards for multiple states. Not sure why we have more than one state insurance card. Every company I have ever worked for has had one card that was good for every state in the lower 48 and Canada, but now we have a card for every state we have either a terminal in or a base location for a dedicated fleet. Safety said every truck needs every card...
