An old man's career goes flat, Snackbar moves to open deck

Mom use to call this pneumonia weather. Friday in GA the apu a/c could hardly keep up until the sun went down, but I needed the a/c all night. Saturday night in MO, hot enough to use the apu a/c all night, here in Laramie it's in the 40's. My next stop in Boise (where I plan doing a 34) it's in the mid to upper 80's, and when I deliver in Auburn Wednesday or Thursday it is forecast to be in the mid to upper 80's as well.

 

First time I have turned a 700 mile trifecta (legally)

 

That’s pretty dang impressive. We have “teams” that can’t knock out 2100 miles in three days.

I only did 500 today so I’m keeping the average down! 3 piles of extrusion. Yes piles, I wouldn’t exactly call them stacks. And I got the decent looking load of extrusions. The other load was 100+ 12’ long cardboard boxes, mostly falling at part. Ill have to get a picture when I untarp, this tarp makes it look way better then it actually is.

 

How do they load and unload those mega tires you hauled? I saw another company hauling 4 not quite as big as you had and it occured to me, the way they had them stacked, there was no way to get a big sling around the one on top.



They should be delivering your new truck pretty soon shouldn't they?

 

Seems as though I pick the truckstops with the worst interstate access. When I stopped at the Love's in Laramie, the exit heading west is open, but the road from the Love's and Pilot heading back to the interstate and the westbound entrance ramp is closed. And the bridge that crosses over to the Petro and eastbound 80 has been removed and is being replaced. So to leave the Love's or Pilot you have to go thru a detour thru a small industrial park north of them then circle back east to the previous exit.

And the westbound exit off of 84 for the Flying J in Caldwell is closed for reconstruction, so you have to go to the next exit and circle back east. Good thing I wasn't counting down to my last few minutes on my drive time...that woulda sucked.

Supposedly the new trucks will be here mid July.

The big tires were loaded with a huge clamp mounted on a forklift at the plant. We unloaded them with a regular forklift with 8’ forks. Just picked up one edge and put blocks under the side. Then slid the forks in, it looked a bit rough on the sidewalls but there were a bunch of tires there so I guess they know what they are doing.

Those tires have to be tough, they were rated for 255,000 pounds, each.

 

Dish soap on the forks works wonders.

 

They slide right in, they only went about halfway across the far sidewall and the tips of the forks were “digging” in. Not my circus.

 

You got them there safe and sound, after that, it's their property. They'll just mount them with that side in...the safety department will never see it.
