It’s loaded both ways. Round trip from S to W and back to S. Now that doesn’t mean the load will be ready or that you will be doing it. Lots of times we store the trailers at our yard until W Is ready for them.

This is parked in the shade in texas. I hate it here, it’s not even summer yet! That starts tomorrow. F45CDDB1-28AA-42DB-B8EB-DC20197ECD19.jpeg

What makes it even worse depending on what part of the state you’re in the humidity really makes it even more miserable

When I first saw @kylefitzy's picture of these long skin trailers, I thought that back section was just an additional piece of conestoga added on. It's not, it's a metal shell. When I was at Silver Eagle/Arnold they has some 57' dry vans that they used to haul glass bottles from OK to a brewery in TX. Every now and then, I would pull one. 4' of extra wheel base made a difference, but the axles could slide forward like most dry van trailers (not far enough to be where a 53' van would though) with this 64' trailer it's different. Here, our 53' open deck trailers have the axles forward far enough to be legal in Cali, these trailers have the axles fixed at the back of the trailer, so essentially, it's adding 22' of wheel base (40' Cali bridge vs. the center of the rear axle on a 64' trailer)...that makes it a really wide turn to get this long arse trailer around a corner. Gonna be an adventure, especially since the routing in GA and AL takes me on the scenic route between Macon and the AL/MS line. Guess that's why they pay us the big bucks :biggrin_25520:.

Plus, in the middle of our permit department pulling permits, they are switching my registration to the new Daseke Indiana plate...so now I have a few permits with the old WA tractor plate, and the rest with my new IN plate along with my new temporary registration for IN (until I get my new plate). The registration for the new IN plate now shows the vehicle is owned by Daseke Leasing, not SPD. I guess maybe they found a loophole where they can show this as a lease truck and take advantage of both depreciation of the equipment ownership (on Daseke's end), and a lease payment deduction on SPD's end...but that is just my guess, not sure why else they would be doing this the way they are.

As long as the deposit is in the bank every week, who cares what corporate does.

Exactly right. 2am every Friday morning is the only thing that matters. The rest of it? Zero concern.

I believe they will grant it if you ask. At least that used to be the case. Of course you have to be within certain criteria

When hauling a normal load, I wouldn't care either, but when hauling a permitted load, your permit is tied to your truck registration and plate. When they switch plates mid-trip, it could be an issue, especially if you get a DOT cop who is looking for any excuse to write a ticket. I ended up making it thru those states that had my WA plate assigned to the permit.

Question. With the new plate, is your truck in the system as having 2 plate’s registered to it? I’m curious how Barney Fife would see it if he ran it and it came back as 2 different registrations. But then again, the trucks that run Alaska have 2 plates on them. Just curious.
