An old man's career goes flat, Snackbar moves to open deck

@supersnackbar have you noticed the paid miles going up on your orders.
Wichita yard to my house used to pay 197 miles, now it pays 215. A driver was just complaining about SPD paying practical miles vs hub. So I started to keep a closer eye on the legal loads, Od loads are paid off the hub.

My current run is Fort Worth to Wichita to Dallas to Savannah. I’m going to get paid 61 more miles then I actually drove.

 

Naw, this is a relatively new driver here driving one of the older KW's with an enclosed headache rack. The only older trucks I remember having those were you guys on the OD fleet.

As for the shipper's lack of space, they are even more crowded because of all the Santa Fe Springs stuff being shipped over. And Santa Fe said they have about 2 more weeks on the one warehouse we've been picking up from and about 5-6 months of shipping from the final one around the corner. I was talking to the receiver and the loader, both said they have no idea where they're gonna put that much more stock. They have the racks for the extra product, but those are stacked up behind one of the buildings because they don't have any more floor space to set them up.

When it said PTO/Leave request on the form, I thought it was for some leave time like for FMLA or medical leave not just your standard vacation.

I have noticed my gps miles have been closer to paid miles on the load info...here I though I was actually doing better on limiting my OOR miles...but I'll take all the extra paid miles they want to add.

 

I believe they are going to keep a couple of the t800’s as local trucks. I know they took the enclosed rack off of one and put an open rack on it. I don’t think they would do that if they were going to sell it.

 

Had sweet Italian sausage, sauer kraut, mashed potatoes and apple sauce for supper. All cooked in my crockpot while I drove today(except the apple sauce). Mmmmm mm mmmm mmmm mmm.

 

Oh my. I can only imagine what the inside of your truck smells like. That sure does sound like a great meal though.

 

It about killed me all the way from Ft. Worth to where I am spending the weekend...I was already hungry. Tomorrow I will have pork chops cooking as I cross between Austin and FL.

I was gonna pull the floorboard access hatch and see about that air leak, but....in order to get to it you have to pull the 2 layers of floor mats (SPD's trucks come with what looks like a factory installed simulated Weathertech® top set and OEM bottom layer.) To get the bottom layer out, you have to pull the seats because it looks like they put that down before they install the seats. I'm not that ambitious. I thought about going under the truck via the passenger side which has a big gap between the emissions box and the fuel tank, but that's where the weed burner exhaust hangs down...again, a lack of ambition prevented me from going that way. So instead, I took out all the Weathertech® mats and did a thorough scrubbing, then scrubbed the OEM vinyl floor and then gave the whole interior a good cleaning...now it's nap time. I will let an ASE certified mechanic put his training to good use and fix my air leak.

 

Dang y’all get fancy floor mats in the Volvos. We get cheap kenworth mats that have already ripped.

Well I guess this 68mph turd can still get it done, as long as the load is light! First 700+day in this truck and probably the first one ever for me this far east. Dublin, ga to west of Little Rock Arkansas.

 

I would gladly trade my Volvo for my old KW with it's cheap floor mats. I thought Volvo 860s were supposed to be the premium top of the line truck model... honestly the KW's are twice the truck these Swedish Dogs are.
