I saw one of these trucks today. I had completely forgotten about them but when I saw it, I immediately thought of you and wondered if you had considered them.... Long Haul Trucking. There has been some posts on them in the past. All conestogas, sharp-looking rides.

I had thought about them until I read they have driver facing cameras which puts them in the "no way in hell" column.

You forgot to mention the downside of yankin a tank, especially a food grade tank where there are no baffles.

Starting tanker OTR soon, sleep and shower question

With today's "me first" driving style the average driver has today(not just 4 wheelers), no matter how careful you are, you're gonna get cut off, like @kylefitzy posted last week when that Tesla tested his load securement on that heavy haul to Boston. With flatbed, I know how my load is secured, and I know that it won't move. With an unbaffled food grade tank, there is no securement.

    and washouts

If pulling a tank was all unicorns and rainbows, then we'd all be doing it.

I think pulling tanks is like reefer or open deck, for some it’s nirvana for others its purgatory. You like what you like, I seriously considered tank before settling on open deck when I switched from reefer, we all know @supersnackbar will eventually decide and we’ll be along for the new journey:).

Not a good day to driving on I-40 out here in the west. Westbound is closed just past x-234 all the way to Clines Corners in NM for a crash. Not scheduled to reopen until 10:30. And it was closed overnight around Flagstaff for an officer involved accident (it has reopened recently).

Very true. When I was a young driver all I wanted to do was try everything. Tippers, flats, vans, abnormal, cows, powder tanks, frigo, almost the lot and, 40 odd years later I think the only type I hadn't touched were cars and liquid tanks. Enjoyed, almost, every minute of it and finally finished with what I do occasionally now, dogs. :D

After it stopped hailing on me I went and checked the conestoga roof...no damage, thankfully.

I heard it’s two conastoga loads in a row max then you have to work local tarping for a week.

I had to do a reset with a pilot car today, not something I ever try to do but that’s just what worked best.

Monday 4 of us are picking up 16’9” wide flatbed loads going to Canada. Best part? No tarps!

    dwells40 Thanks this.
