It's the Sunday to Saturday pay period for flatbed that is the issue. Getting a 1500 mile load that delivers on a Tuesday or Wednesday means you most likely won't get any more miles on that pay period, especially out of the central or east time zones because you generally don't pick up a reload the same day your empty. So the next load carries over to Tuesday or Wednesday next week, etc...etc...etc. You never make up for the first short week.

It does suck that you can't deliver earlier and have so many set appointments. I've been doing the back and forth to the east coast slightly OD both directions so I feel your pain, missing out on a cutoff does throw a wrench in the works.

Yeah but either way you still get paid the same. More on some weeks and less on others but in the end it’s still the same number.

How do I get paid more when I don't run more miles?

I don’t get how he’s only doing 1300 a week. That’s less miles then I’m doing running super loads. Even waiting 3 days to relay one into Canada. Anyway I got towed up a hill today by a bed truck. They were working a wrecked platform trailer at the bottom of the hill and they were towing everyone up after a b-train spun out and almost slid down backwards yesterday. The Canadians are too good to us! IMG_7656.jpeg

On another note this load is kicking my poor tucks butt. It was a struggle to go over 50 most of the day with the winds. But 44,600 on the drives gives me great traction. Didn’t slip one time.

I do get the deadhead from Pueblo to Wichita, so that adds a few more, but the next load is 1367 miles to SoCal, but doesn't deliver until Tuesday. What are the odds I get a load out of there that I can deliver by Friday? So that ends next week on Tuesday, with 1367 miles. I might get a long run out of there, but it will likely deliver Monday or Tuesday, so that will likely be my 1 good week, then the Tuesday to Tuesday cycle repeats. Plus, this pretty much rules out me taking a 34 or having any down time for repairs...any sitting further reduces my 5 day work week.

I see two options. Load and get to the ca yard Saturday and get a reset. Or start working the phones to see if they can preload you a trailer or at least let you drop the loaded trailer and go load something on Monday.
Your 1300 mile week could easily be 3500 by Saturday. That’s burning Sunday-Tuesday.

He drug me up the hill at 105,000 and I was almost all the way up before I realized I was not contributing at all. We topped the hill at 10 mph from a dead stop. Last time I hit it at about 35 and only managed 8mph.
