This country was founded , key word, founded, by people who spoke english. The constitution is written in english. All our laws are written in english. The foundation of this great nation was made by people who spoke english. You're right, people came from ALL over the world to come here, but we spoke english, and the illegals from Mexico need to as well.

Why don't you learn how to write and use the English language (Yes, with a capital "E"!) before you criticize other people?

Also, German almost became our official language, so the US has always been multi-lingual, just ask the Native Americans, they weren't speaking English when a bunch of white murderers from Europe showed up.

What is wrong with the USA becoming a polyglot nation? Nothing at all in my book.

BTW, Cinco de Mayo has nothing to do with Mexican Independence. That is the 16th of September.

What's wrong if we do celebrate it? Same as St. Patricks Day or October Fest. Chinese New Year's. Let's have a few more holidays!

your right about some items. I spent time in mexico this year and auto repair equipment way costlier. I know one person equipping a shop in aguas caliente. He's buying equipt. here. even made in guadalajara items, cheaper here.

I went in february and everyone said don't go, hijackings, kidnappings and all but nothing happened. Quiet and peaceful however I'm sure if I looked for bad places I could find them. Nice place especially guadalajara climate probably because of the altitude. I could live there and may eventually but need to get better in my espagnol though.

we all need to travel more to find out how others live. can't believe everything we hear.

I heard an interesting discussion on the SAT radio today in regards to Mexican trucks and insurance......

What happens if a Mexican driver "T-Bones" your rig?
Will the Mexican insurance companies compensate you?.....Or will they tell you to go pound sand?

Apparently per the conversation.....Those south of the border insurance companies are about as honest as the government.....:biggrin_25513:

I was running Brownsville before september 11th and Zapata had it's own little drug war going on and shots were being fired across the border. Mexico has been a free for all for quite sometime,it's just that they have been able to keep most of it out of the media.

In Laredo on another occasion I went into US customs to cancel a bond and on my way out I drove right past the scale. A highway partol car came after me and once I was stoppped he asked me why I didn't go into the scale. I looked at him and told him honestly I didn't see the lights as I made the turn(turns out that they were too close to the corner and not legal anyway.). He said "didn't you see all the trucks there?" and I said "I am very sorry, but It looked like an impound yard."

I had to follow him back to the scale for inspection and everything was good. I got a $65 ticket for failing to obey an official traffic control device and was sent on my way.
Just to let people know how old the equipment is coming across,as my truck was being inspected there were several guys coming out and taking pictures of my truck.
They asked permission and told me they don't get trucks like this coming in here.

My question is this then. If Mexican trucks are so great and well kept why are they sending all the ####ty ones to the border where Americans can get a good look at them driving around Laredo...doesn't seem like a good PR move.
