As an independent owner op, I don't want to compete solely on price. Does that make me a dirtbag?

I think it is a dirtbag strategy by AT&T, T-mobile, Sprint, & US Cellular to still offer such ####ty service and coverage in 2015...

The only company I could see switching to is Google, but their network is still in its infancy (CA metro areas).

    Great can't wait.
Gonna suck for the customers that gave up unlimited data.

Of course not, you are nowhere near being a monopoly of a carrier that is the only choice for quality & coverage.

By your owner operatorship, your business by nature has to be a maximum profit per load business model since you are only one income source with higher fixed costs per load.
A fleet can charge less per load since they have multiple incomes concurrently & get all sorts of discounts & tax incentives on equipment, maintenance, fuel, labor, ect lowering their fixed costs while remaining profitable.

Anything you scale properly in a capitalistic environment will be as or more profitable than a comparatively smaller model.

The question is, do you still operate on a maximum profit model, or pass down cost savings onto customers without which you would not exist?

Who can I use instead of Verizon for OTR & receive comparable service in same areas?

Say what you guys want about Verizon. I know I pay more and could easily get a more affordable service from the others.

Thing is that I have tried the others. No one offers the service coverage area that OTR truckers need, with the quality of service that Verizon offers . Period,..

If someone else had the same service for less money, I would already be signed up with them.

Now you'll be able to burn through your crappy data limit much faster, awesome!

What's this Data Limit you speak off.

Maybe in the future we can get Unlimited Data Back with a Decent Carrier.
For now...it is what it is.
I'm on unlimited until they force me off of it.

Lucky you! Don't give that up! Anyway , the rest of us are stuck with their limits that are easily exceeded.

I think if they offered a more reasonable amount of data for the price it would make people much happier with Verizon rather than increasing speed further.

@KB3MMX I hear that! I've got a love/hate relationship with Verizon. Love their coverage/hate their prices.
I've got 2 gigs, unlimited calling and text for sixty bucks a month, on a customer loyalty plan. For me, the 2 gigs is fine, since I'm not a gamer nor do I download movies on it. That coupled with not being on the road, gives me ample data for now.

I started with 15gb thinking that would work.....nope. Then 20.. then 30... now I've got 40gb.. and still get close to my limit each month.

If anyone is a serious car guy I think you can relate to it in terms of hp. I used to think 300hp was fun.. then I built my first 430hp motor. Got bored and built a 600hp turbo motor. Yep.. even that got old after a year. Currently in the middle of a motor shooting for 1200 rwhp.

Is there ever enough? I doubt it. Once you get a taste.. you can never go back to anything less.

I've contemplated using a mix of satellite and mobile.. but satellite is even more restricted with data limits and costs associated with it.

So for now all I can do is keep feeding the monster. The only way Verizon will drop pricing or give you more is through more competition offering the same or better service. If it existed.. the majority would move to it. Supply and demand.
