I am looking to start driving next summer. I have been impressed with the participation of the trainers from this company. I understand that there are some equipment problems but that seems to be a common theme throughout all the company threads with this economy. I see a possible problem with the fleet selection as I live in Colorado and won't meet the requirement for the Flatbed Fleet.
I was wondering, if they will talk to me, Is it better to go to the company school or a local one here?
I was also wondering how picky they are on the hiring areas on the company web?
    Any assistance would be appreciated.

The company school is usually alot cheaper than a private school, but you will have to agree to stay with Roehl for 1 year to cover the cost of your school. The upside is that the company school and driver finishing fit together like a hand in a glove. Our school teaches you the way we want you to drive, and then your trainer just continues that. With private schools, sometimes their methods are alittle "strange" and then we are left trying to "reteach" basic skills that should have come from driving school. As for fleet selection, you should talk to them, as frieght comes back the national fleets should start to loosen up on the hiring areas. They just don't want to hire you, and then never be able to get you home. Do lots of homework on whatever company you decide to work for. Look around your local area, see what companies are picking up and delivering where you live and check them out. You might find something close to home that would work better than a big national company. Don't be afraid to goto the truckstop and talk to the drivers there, they will tell you the good the bad and the ugly too. Good luck on your search, this is a great place to start.

Thanks for the reply PA. Have been doing some of the research for the last year as I am currently a Security Guard at some of the facilities out here. Gives me a chance to talk to some of the truckers while they are blaming me for some of the silly company rules that I have to enforce:biggrin_25523:.

Good luck with that. Truck drivers are not always the most understanding bunch. I guess you have already figured that out.
