They are not flatbed. THEY'RE VAN AND HAUL BEER,GLASS AND PAPER. I will continue to look but have hit some snags today.
TODAYS DRAMA. I received a text telling me to call CFI back.I did and they told me because I'm trained on Pups and not 48 or 53's They cant bring me on.In the past the people who trained on Pups didn't make it out of their orientation but if I get 3mo OTR with someone else I can then be hired.
I then called crete because I filled out an app in
jan and hadn't heard from them. They tell me my application is denied because My school is not APPROVED and if I get 5 mo otr then I could go out with their trainer.
Schnider, They told me before I started school that I couldn't do there training and needed to get a cdl from my home state of Rhode Island then to call them back.I'm calling tonight because there is a open house in Conn next wednesday.
One of the first companies I looked at was MILLIS, they run up in the area especially Massachusetts. Was a little hesitant because of 35 whiskey situation but then again everyone needs to make up there own mind and decision. My only regret is that I could of been through MTI and out with a trainer already and getting ready to get my own truck by the time I start school on the 3rd of March or week later. I understand better why sometimes people go the contract company route.At-least you have a job/career and not sitting at home with your CDL and nothing to show for it. I will continue to look local, ltl's and If not I will go where I first wanted to go anyway. Thanks for all your help, BiGDaddyJollyROB

ATS treated me well as a company driver. I got all the miles I needed to keep running. Working for them as a company driver the only complaint I have is the governed speed limit of 65, but thats cause I get used to the 75+ trucks that I ran prior. I takes a few months to get used to the slower pace. I was a Class 3 just about to a Class 2 in their flat/specialized division. You get a fair share of granite loads and end up in cemetaries from time to time. I liked them and was thinking about getting into the lease program. I met several lease ops, and owner ops. Most of them were doing well. I've jumped from company to company and this is true at ATS as well your going to have drivers that have good things to say as well as bad. I had a few bad times at ATS but the good outweighed it. If you can put the effort in and the time out on the road you can make it in the lease program. If you need to be home often don't do it. In the begining of a lease program and this is with any company you need to stay out 4-7 weeks come home for 3-4 days no more and go back out. When you have a truck payment you can't be home all the time. Once your ahead you can shorten you time out but at least the 1st year look at long trips stays away from home. The other thing increase your MPG's the surcharge is where the money is on milage pay for O/O or leases. All in all ATS is a good company and I am considering going back OTR with ATS when the job I'm supervising for this company is over. For those interested Keen is not a bad company if your on the East coast and want to get into OD hauling.
Just a note as I'm sure your all aware. The one thing you will notice is the drivers that have a bad expeirence with a company tend to constantly complain, aren't happy with any company they've been with, and usually don't put the full effort into their JOB not career. Now there are good drivers that have a bad experience from time to time. Check out a company from all points before you make a decision. This is my opinion taken from my expierence with several companies and from hiring drivers as a supervisor for the company I drive for now. I have an 8 man crew and have had 20 guys working under me on other projects. There is always a handfull of cry babies, a whiner that will do anything to help but will still get it done, a few that think the company truck is theirs and no one else can drive it, a couple that bad mouth everyone including me behind my back, and a few that just get it done no problems no whining just do it. Which one are you?

    Sailboat501 Thanks this.

GEt it Done! if your going to whine, whine to yourself then get the job done. If your being mistreated then thats another story but I've followed a few guys and noticed they whine no matter where they go.It seems they like to stay in training, always jumping ship before they're cut lose on their own. I'm currently working in the redemtion/recycling field. Physical work, good pay but long drive out of state to work everyday. With the increasing price of gas I keep my eye out for a closer job. I turned one down that in hind sight I should of taken running container work.Oh well, I like my job and enjoy the guys I work with. Thanks for updating the thread with good info:biggrin_25519:

Anderson trucking service is a outlaw co. I worked for those crooks a year and a half from 1998 to 2001. I was fired because my late wife was dieing from diabetes, and those evil crooks didn't want to pay the medical bills. They used a minor accident that I was not at fault, that I took a evasive maneuver that kept people from getting hurt or killed. They also tried to stop me from collecting workers comp. when I got hit by a chain binder below my lip leaveing a scar. They got a shyster lawyer to go to the workers comp hearing that told nothing but lies, but the workers comp judge was smart enough to see though it all. I got 6000$ those evil criminals.

They're not heavy, just big and sloppy. My husband pulled a few of them already. A lot coming out of the Philadelphia PA area out to the midwest where they're setting them up. There's quite a few companies hauling these windmills. If anyone going through Iowa, Kansas, etc will see many of them set up in certain towns.
Pretty Neat. One town supplies all the power for that town. Becoming more popular.

I Love Heavy Hauling/Overwides! !. It's fun , challenging and you don't have to worry about going down the road, doing the same ole', same ole', and getting bored.

Just got hired on with ATS will be there for orientation on the 5th ( Oct. ) worked for Arrow for a year and did like one OD load. I really didn't like it too many rules you have to go by. However I will if that what it takes to make money.
