I thought I was going to stay a tech luddite with just a text flip phone to defend against the constant deluge of keeping up with the tech joneses. But found out that hostile text messaging from the drug world will not be defensible so I moved to a cheap 30 dollar smart phone with andriod so I can run additional software designed to identify and automatically block incoming hostiles (In addition to changing numbers twice until new number is proven quiet good number) and the phone will literally only ring to known listed contacts. ALL others are blocked.

I hate to think what is coming with the future of apps that require cash money payments to stay active. We are already there.

    LindaPV Thanks this.

Another problem with root and the android forums. They aren't as busy as they once were. The forums are practically dead these days.

With todays androids doing just about everything the people want. There's not much reason to screw around anymore.

The biggest reason back in the day was to root and mobile hotspot without paying the extra fee. Today mobile hotspot is already there and included with the month price plan.

Android just released their next operating system. ( Don't remember the name ) But it'll probably be close to end of year before we start seeing it. On phones that it's available for. Gotta go through all the carrier baloney first.

I actually like marshmallow. It's the best yet. As for sd capabilities. I have the s6 which don't have that option.

You can do it yourself. You just need to weed through the XDA threads on the topic and see which method seems to work best for most people or which one has the most support and then follow that method to the letter.

It usually just involves downloading a custom ROM to it and then using ClockworkMod or whatever to flash it. The 816 seems to be pretty popular so you should have a good selection of ROMs.
