I have an interview today with a local company, not really "local" in the sense you would think, they are only a few miles from my house, and they do line haul to Denver, Phoenix, Casper, and Vegas. Out one night home the next. I would like to make it clear, if I leave Andrus, it is not for any of the reasons above, I.E. "They are Crooks" "You will wind up sitting" or any of the others, Andrus has been good to me, and I have been busy since I started, I have 99% of the time had a pre plan before I dropped freight. I am only leaving because, with this job, I can be home with my family more. I will keep all posted on my new adventure...(If I get the job)

    Big Don Thanks this.

I have been offered the local job making slightly more per mile with designated routes, home every other night.
Kind of excited. I will however stay in contact with everyone here.

    Big Don Thanks this.

Thanks truckersteve73, did my road test and UA today with the other company. I was making .30 a mile with bonuses, you with more experience will make more. I am not 100% sure what the scale for your experience level is. I was shuttled down, but Utah has a shuttle that goes from Salt Lake to Saint George. I am not sure how they would get you from Oregon. I know these answers are vague, and I apologize. Have you called recruiting? If not I can get you the number if you would like.

Yes, that is the way they work it. So far, though, .30 seems average with the companies I talked to before. Now I am curious as to what the average is out there. I will be making .34 with this new company. When I was with Crete a few years ago, I think I was making .34, but was not getting the miles.
I kind of live by the philosophy that a company can pay 1.00 a mile if they want, if you are not getting the miles then that company won't work. I am taking home more with Andrus at .30 a mile than I EVER did with Crete at .34. Just food for thought. The company I am starting with now, has no recruiter, I have been working with and hired by the owners of the company. The drivers on average have constant freight and constant miles. I have talked to some of the drivers (they have 11 drivers total, including me), and other employees, they all seem real happy with the company. I'm pretty excited about this.

yeah I hear ya, doesn't really matter what they are paying if the miles aren't there, but most companies are closer to 40cpm for experienced drivers, so was a little surprised, but for me honestly lower pay may be worth staying west and more frequent hometime, thanks again for your help!

I used to work for Conway, I know they are starting drivers with 1 year at 37cpm.... I like them, great company in many ways but a little tired of running the NE and also being gone 3 or 4 weeks... so guess it just depends on your priorities... have also looked at crete, applied with them out of school but went with Conway, btw is it true at Crete you get to choose between loads when offered? If so thats pretty cool.... the new gig your talking about sounds cool wish I lived in your neck of the woods!
