Most of the items inspected were always normal things looked at while doing a service (pm). With some exceptions like the tractor protection valve etc.

On a side note it doesn't have to pass just be inspected. A semi local repair establishment would inspect, then inform the customer any violations had to be corrected before they could let the truck leave.
I heard of some bills of $6k & up. They really screwed the local farmers also. Most of them got inspections that weren't mandated for farm. Plus a big bill to go with it -
I'm a firm believer in taking trucks to a 3rd party shop for CVI's. I know of some guys that, for a case of beer, will pass almost anything. Even some fleet shops I've worked at were able to do their own CVI's and I still don't even agree with that. First shop I'd ever worked at tried to make me do them and I refused. I wasn't about to take the liability for something I had no experience or the proper training to do.

I bought my truck with a current DOT from a dealership. Got to Orientation with it and $720 later it was actually current. Have a 3rd party do the inspection before you buy.

Good stuff, good to know. And none of the inspection stuff really gets down to the "meat & potatoes" of wether or not the engine/drivetrain is any good. That's a whole other can of worms, starting with oil analysis, I guess.
Thanx.
