So I’m trying to budget my first year of being an O/O. How many miles do you typically put on in a year, and how much do you spend on maintenance. I’m currently considering a 5 year old Volvo with about 500k on it.

Everyone has different expenses. It is difficult to come up with an exact cost without having some historical data. I believe we posted some basic figures somewhere on this site. I usually use 2,500 miles per week as an average when doing projections. It is a good average for the ups and downs with seasonal changes in freight. You could average 3,000, but there will be times when you want to take time off and certain times of the year freight will be down and you may not even get 2,000 miles in a week. If you only want a ballpark figure, you can use $0.08-0.15/mile for maintenance. An oil change costs from $200-350. I change my oil every 15,000 miles. Some wait until they have 25,000 or more. I know a few who change their oil at 10,000 miles.
