Okay, I need educating here. If a stretch of highway is posted that all trucks must remain in the right lane, it's my understanding that a truck running the left lane can be ticketed for doing so. Why then are four-wheelers permitted in lanes marked for trucks only? Is it not permissible to fine them?

    In a word, Ducks, no.

What I think is totally messed up by this is how trucks are confined to the right lane or right two lanes, when many times if just passing through a city we could create much less traffic congestion by just getting in the left lane and get on down the road while all the locals get on and off the exits.

I understand Missouri is on the verge of implimenting such a rule in certain urban areas. "All through trucks keep left". Or, "left lane for through trucks only". Finally, someone gets it. I've gone to court, and gotten out of tickets using this defense. Without any legal rep. "Your Honor, I was in the left lane, and traveling the speed limit. Therefore, guilty of the allegation brought before me. However, my intent was NOT to break the law, but to PROTECT your local citizes during their comute to their destinations. All the while, cars were driving much faster than I, and weaving all around each other, fighting for position and/or to get to and from the interchanges. Given the amount of congestion at the time of the infraction, I, in my professional opinion, decided that the left lane was the best lane for me to be using in the interest of , not only my safety, but the safety of the rest of the motoring public on that particular stretch of highway."
The judge exclaimed that it was good logic. I paid court costs, though the rest was dismissed. I've since noticed that ther are quite a few trucks using the left lane, in that area, without being bothered. Save for a few jealous truckers trying to drop a dime.

I wish every city would have through trucks left lane or allow us there. In in twin cities here in mn I always ran the left lane on I494 and I694 around the loop and it always seemed so much easier to get through there.

Because they have no comprehension of the death and destruction that awaits if they are unfortunate enough to tangle with one of those large cars. In my discussion with my coworkers on how they act while driving along with rigs, I was amazed at some of the stupidity that was spewing from there mouths.....needless to say I pointed that out to them.

I can only imagine what I am going to see on my way to MATS tomorrow.
