No need to think...anybody operating a 4 wheeled vehicle is a 4 wheeler...no matter what class their license says.
I f you aren't on the road then you aren't in a 4 wheeler...unless you are driving on the sidewalk like some 4 wheelers do on occasion! No, we who hold a CDL as our license to drive, don't have the excuse of being dumb...we are supposed to know and understand the rules of driving...no matter the vehicle...that CDL in your wallet doesn't change class when you get out of your rig BTW!
Exactly...she is a truckers wife...does she hold a CDL? If so then she should also know the ropes, just by being a truckers wife doesn't give her the same background as a trucker.
This discussion is about the stupid things 4 wheelers do and think...if they aren't being safe and courteous, then the class license they hold doesn't change a thing...stupid is as stupid does...no class differential.
Then that person wasn't capable of understanding at all...so why waste your breath?

Sweetie, I am a four wheeler and I am guilty as sin of running in the truck lanes in that area. BUT, I had a good reason. It was starting to snow and the four wheelers in their lanes were running like complete morons and I did not feel safe up there with them slip sliding around. I ran the truck lanes, WITH the big boys traffic, at their speeds. Which was about 20 mph.... If you ever see a blue Buick Roadmaster with dual firesticks on the rear fenders, running with the truck traffic, just holler for Mamabear and see if I answer...

What post was this about or to? I hope not me...I wasn't attacking any 4 wheelers...GL I know you would drive in a sane manner anywhere, cause I know you understand the issues on the highway. If it was my post...I apologize if you took any offense at what I said!

Oh, Heavens! No, no offense taken or meant at all! LMAO! Just saying I am guilty of using truck lanes, and if you see me out there, say Howdy!otherhalftw and simplyred1962 Thank this.

While a CB antenna or two does help, I wish there was a way for a 4-wheeler driven by a trucker or the family members of a trucker could be unmistakably identified. Maybe a banner across the top of the windshield (in reverse print so it could be read in a mirror just like ambulances) and across the back glass that would have one word to identify that vehicle as a (supposed) non-idiot. Maybe we could make up a word here on this thread. My creativity juices just aren't flowing right now, though.

I know one thing.....No driver would let his family members drive or own a Smart Car or a Prius As the "Family Car"........

I have a sticker on the rear window of my F250 Stroker. It reads, "My other truck is a Kenworth" Not really true anymore since I've been in a Century for nearly a year and a half, but it gets the point across. Since I have a firestick on the left mirror as well, it's rather obvious I'm not just a 4wheeler. I get called quite a bit on the radio when out, and even have been flashed back by guys still in the big truck.
And, like most of us hopefully, I drive my little trucks the same as I drive the big truck.

simplyred1962 Betty Boop, One Bodacious Babe!!!
Just an idea, and I KNOW it will NEVER happen...
But, what if, to acquire a drivers license, in ANY state, the person must first watch a two-hour commentary+video, of results of driving irresponsibly and recklessly, around a big truck? And shown HOW they should drive, and WHY???
As I said, never gonna happen, but a girl can dream, right?

A good friend of mine has a business idea that follows this line of thinking.
Without giving away all his ideas, the idea is to educate driver's ed students about big trucks. Things such as stopping distances, blind spots, and all other potential dangers.simplyred1962 Thanks this.
