Dave was saying it's not even really a road test since we all know what are doing (or they wouldn't have invited us to orientation to begin with). He said it's more like a road trip to learn to maximize fuel mileage using progressive shifting on the 13 speeds. I guess we will see. Relax. I'm sure we'll all do fine.![]()

Good thread. I've got a question. I drove for Stevens Transport out of Dallas, TX from Nov 2009 till Dec 2010. I went through their training program , even though I already had my CDL from driving back in 99. I was an Alliance Lease operator, never late, no accidents, no tickets , but the lack of miles made me call it quits on Dec. 8th of 2010. I have kept all my log books to prove experience, and had over a year OTR. However, I have been off the road for 17 months, but really miss it and have had the itch to get back out on the road for the last 6 months. The question is, does ACT offer a refresher course, or does the 1 year experience have to be very recent? I'm sure that if I would get in a Truck, it would only take me a few hours to knock off the rust and be driving A-OK again. Would they consider me or have I been off the road for too long? Thanks for the input .
(by the way, I was a 'runner'. I hated sitting around at truck stops , and would only stop for my 10 hr. break and be rolling again. If I wasn't getting 3000 miles a week I wasn't happy) -
Sent ya a pm, but I think you will be ok
-
Well 3000 miles a week here would be hard to average but the pay makes up for it. They do have a program for people in your situation to get back on the road but I don't know any of the details on it. If you would like I can pm you a recruiters number so you can ask.

Oh geeze just seen where you're from I live in moore. You'd love it here I get through the house a lot with these guys.
-
They would make him do the reACTivate program. Has to have 18 months otr in last 3 years with 6 months in last year.
-
I knew someone would have the info.

Thanks everybody for the input. I will check out the website. I will have to talk the wife back into it, she wasn't happy with me being gone all the time with Stevens, I was out 5-8 weeks at a time and hardly ever got 'through the house', because we hardly ever delivered in Oklahoma , and when we delivered in Texas coming from the east, always went down US 69/75 so missed the house by a hundred miles or so.
From what I've read, ACT seems like one of the better companies out there, and the pay for L/O is better than what I got at Stevens Transport. I got .84 a mile plus fuel surcharge loaded, and .84 a mile empty. Did I read correctly that ACT pays .90 plus fuel surcharge on all miles?
Yeah buddy, Moore is right up the road from Norman, and I noticed that you guys deliver a lot in Ardmore, Lawton, and other places in Oklahoma , which would be great to get by the house more often. -
If you have your hazmat the you are paid $1 a mile loaded plus fsc and .90 a mile empty plus fsc. If you don't have hazmat, then you are paid .94 a mile loaded plus fsc. You would probably have to go re-ACTivate which means you would be company,, and I believe you start at .36 a mile. You live in a better area then I did when I was there, so hopefully you have better luck with getting home or thru the house. I had to stay out 4 - 6 weeks at a time to make decent money, but to each there own. Good luck.
