Your numbers are off big time. But 1500 a month for insurance is outrageous. I pay 732.00 a month for my own 80/20 insurance with 35.00 copays. but after all you are in the highest insurance rate state in the country. Also I always set aside only 20% for taxes and always had money left in my tax escrow account at the end of the year after deductions and quarterlies paid in Just sayin maybe you need to move to a cheaper state.

Our "premium" payments are going into an interest bearing savings account. Sorry, just tired of paying for insurance, and NEVER USING IT....until we need it, and nothing is covered because we haven't met the deductible. The only situation where insurance would have kicked in is when my kiddo broke and sprained her ankle (at the same time)...and then only for the last $500. That was a $3k ankle injury, by the time all was said and done. We self-paid that. Only medical issues in the last 8 years are the gymnast's ankle injuries, and her more recent hand injury (which oddly wasn't exactly gymnastics, but she has learned that hitting hard inanimate objects is probably not a bright thing to do.) The last one...while insured, and we get to eat the entire bill.

Before you go stating it's the a ridiculous amount, you may want to consider it's also short and long term disability and also dental and visions

Yeah... $1500 is just crazy! I was quoted $180-210 since I just wanted something for emergencies - $2k deductible. Having friends in the right place always helps (insurance agent, lawyer, accountant). -
Don't forget... since they passed the bill, insurance will be mandatory starting next year. Or you can pay the penalty (most people will) of 1% of income for the year, which is nothing. Year after it will go to 2.5%. Not sure what's going to happen after that but I'm sure something will happen even before that. -
I'm paying $50/month for short/long term disability thru Country financial. ($1800 after 30 days waiting period if I'm disabled)

Single or family of 4?
-
Take a wild guess...
Still that's a high rate, you might want to get some quotes... Family of 4 you shouldn't be over $1k. -
For a family of 4, with all that......yeah, less than $1k/month. And that's with a couple of nicotine burners on the plate.BlackLions Thanks this.
