Just acquired a nice Heathkit IM-18 vtvm for my bench. I will use it for receiver alignment mostly. Just have to replace the electrolytic caps and calibrate it. Now all I need is a better scope.

Actually Ebay. At least with Heathkit, you can get a service manual and repair their stuff. Just have to hope that the guy that built it wasn't a total moron...

It powers up and seems to work. Im going to open it up later and check the accuracy and clean the switches. Unless the electrolytics appear to have been replaced, I will replace those too eventually. It looks like Mouser has the exact caps that I need :)

Well, it reads 14v dc matching my good multimeter, so it's working. I popped the cover and found a leaking C battery (expected). Found one tube not completely seated in it's socket and a few loose nuts. The electrolytics looked original, but in good shape. I will still replace those. All told, looks like it will be a good deal.
