I figure it is kinda like hearing on the CB for 20 years that Ohio or Illinois is gonna raise the speed limit back to 65 for trucks. Give it enough time and it might even come true!

Rumors will always abound.
-
There's nothing like a truckstop rumor to get people's tongues wagging..... you hear all sorts.... swift are going to be shut down by dot.... jb hunt are buying werner out... werner are closing....schneider are closing...this ones buying this one, that ones closing............

New name is North American Pumkin Hunt?????????mDub and UncleFester Thank this. -
The "rumors" were flying when Arrow started bouncing payroll checks - and by the number of drivers still on the road over Christmas, none of them wanted to believe it either.
Whether a company is a "class outfit" or not has nothing to do with it, since allowing this kind of news to leak would be a financial "death sentence" for them.
A lot of drivers may quit, but more importantly the customers (for fear of load losses) would start to flee the sinking ship - resulting in a devastating drop in revenue.
Any company "on the edge" would immediately be pushed over and fail.
Bankruptcy filings are more likely to sink a company in this industry because as a shipper - why risk it?
There are plenty of more stable companies that can guarantee delivery.
Honestly. I would have more confidence in a company that frugally invests in $70k Columbia's, then $120K Pete's to run the same freight in this economy.
Might be worth checking their debt load (if available), if your employed there. -

This is starting to take on the appearance of just another rumour started by a disgruntled employee. The fact that he would use a national radio show to make such claims is what gave it an air of being newsworthy.
All of the fact checking that I've done shows TMC's bankruptcy as little more than just truckstop hearsay. So until I hear otherwise, there is no truth to TMC being in trouble. -
If les2 is so worried about the transport capacity maybe he should get off the road and get another job.. The way everyone spreads rumors it is like a soap opera,, Grow up and get a life. I am a driver for TMC and i am running as hard as i can go, i don't sit waiting for loads. Just got my truck washed today on the way home, d**n can't believe they are paying their bill at the wash due to financial trouble!!!!! That is b.s just like the rumors everyone starts about everyone else.

Everyone was hoping Yellow Roadway was going under, so much so that the competition was discounting freight 90% to help nail the coffin shut. Now What, it didn't happen, so let the chiefs worry about it and you indians just keep working.
As for bounced Checks, if that was to happen to me anywhere I Will Park It. -

Secondly, clueless drivers such as yourself who are paid by the mile don't care about rates. As long as your wheels are turning you're making money. I'll give you a great example of what companies like your does to rates and how they think of you.
I bid on a load of refractory stuff going 985 miles. I put in $2000 + surcharge, now a company like TMC would bid $1300 and maybe a surcharge. TMC gets the load. Now I bid it high cause of the material and the fact that refractory stuff can sometimes be a PIA to haul, atleast the last load I hauled of it was. Now you have to strap it down, as good as possible and tarp it. Now if you have any problems with this load along the way "you" have to fix it, its "your responsibility", not the dispatchers, safety, or rate persons problem, its yours. Where am I going with this???
OK, lets say you make 35cpm + $50 for tarping, the load miles are 985 x 35= $344.75 + $50 = $394.75 is your cut we'll say. You're worth less than $400 for what could be a PIA load, what happens if something goes wrong? Don't worry, they've already got another driver to fill your seat...
Now if you was getting paid % and they actually put in a decent rate of $2000 you'd have made $500 at 25% + 50 for tarping = $550. I'm sure you can do the math and see the difference.
See, companies like TMC make their money in bulk. Eventually it will come back to haunt them with the slow economy, rising fuel cost, cheaper rates and driver turnover.
Make sure you turn your truck off and slow down to conserve fuel and save the company some money.... your job depends on it...Beechvtail Thanks this.
