If this keeps happening they better start looking at sabotage to the computer control systems on those ships. To coincidental they are happening in our waters at our bridges.
Savor the Flavor, W923 and hope not dumb twucker Thank this. -
I'm anything BUT a "conspiracy theorist," but this sure makes one wonder.

Perhaps we are nearing the time when ultra large ships will be required by law to have tugs in attendance when operating near to large sensitive structures like bridges.
W923 Thanks this. -
That would be a great deal for the tugboat companies. We already have mandatory tug escorts for oil tankers within the harbor. Why not make all ships require at least one tug with enough power to do the job right?
Disclaimer...part of my family is in the tugboat business.
tarmadilo, W923, Diesel Dave and 2 others Thank this. -
Unlike the bridge in Baltimore, the Verrazzano has quite large concrete and rock protective berms that surround the bases of the two tower structures. So, unless it was intentional, the ship wouldn't be able to hit the bridge itsel.
This was the one fault of the 9/11 attack. Had they crashed the planes into the GW and VN bridges bringing them down, it would have done more economic damage to the US. -
Yes, but they just wanted to kill people, and as many as possible.

And cause lots of economic loss and political / social turmoil.
