I can understand salmonella if it was chicken flavored, but seriously, how the hell does cereal get contaminated with salmonella?

i'm thinking either mouse or rat droppings getting into be batches as they move along the assembly line, or eating their way into the bags of raw products sitting on the floors?
then too, some dolt that works at the factory, could have used the bathroom, and did not wash his/her hands afterwards, you know, like many truck drivers do, then go to the boofey table..???lilillill Thanks this. -
I don’t know. To me, it seems this bug has to practically exist in the water source used to clean the equipment or was existent on a raw material product and just was never exterminated before final packaging
Just one minor anomaly might affect a few bags, but entire huge batches? This bug has to exist in large numbers and throughout a product to affect products that span multiple production line [cleaning] cycles -
I think it ever-increased usage of “surface water” sources that are running lower and hotter, and that aren’t being adequately treated as demand increases. ... Not treated adequately by the municipality source as well as at the production facility.
I don’t even rinse with tap water after brushing teeth. I will drink coffee and occasionally iced tea but that’s it. There are few water sources I trust to drink, and they are all from known deep spring sources (bottled)
My odor sensitivity is very adverse to bad odors and I can detect in municipalities that use surface water sources. And most do today. Some are so foul I can’t even shower in it. But the locals have blocked it out and don’t notice. You can’t tell me bugs don’t live in something that smells that foul.

Can't beat deep well water. Drink it straight from the tap. Never gotten sick from it and it actually tastes awesome.

Don't you think that the stomach bugs toy mentioned could have been from salmonella poisoning back then? I know since l started running local 5 or 6 years ago and not regional my flu flareups have decreased exponentially. I still eat the same at home just less truck stop/greasy spoon food and less exposure to lots of different people/places.

That was kinda what I was trying to say. But more to the point, “flu” and stomach bugs were no big deal then, now a few get the same symptoms and we want to bring in the CDC, the FBI, and a team of lawyers.
