Sounds like the company has two rookies teaming, is that right? That's a bad idea for so many reasons. Anyway, just play by the company rules and don't do something stupid out of spite. You think your life is hard now, wait until you quit or get fired from this current job. I'm sure your ingrained sense of justice is as highly tuned as mine and you may be justified in telling someone to shove it, but don't. If that means you don't get home, then you don't get home. If you tough out this period it's very likely things will improve every year thereafter.
Just work and drive like the boss and the cops are always watching and try to do the best you can when you can't make everyone happy. Don't give the boss or the dispatcher any speeches about the legality of this or that, they will just throw you in the penalty box and punish you for it. Try to be invisible until you have the experience to move on and plan your move on good terms, even if you have to eat #### to get there. You aren't going to change a company culture and they have far more experience dealing with drivers than you have dealing with trucking companies.
I hope you will tell rookies why it's so important to check out a company and talk to many current company drivers before deciding on a company to work for. Most experienced drivers try this and we are told "all trucking companies are alike..." and then hear about new driver picking companies because of trivial items like taking the truck home or make of the tractor. All companies are not alike and pretending otherwise is just an excuse for a lazy driver to do no research and then blame the company or the industry when the result stink.
Another doozy from yours truly

yea, 2 rookies.
Hey, I did research, I knew what I was getting into for the most part. I couldnt be choosy. This probably sounds horrible, but if I walked into McDonald's and applied for a job there's a good chance they wouldn't hire me.
Freaking Ironic. Im busting my ### to try and turn my life around. Im not taking anything for granite. But everyday I work here, I feel like Im trapped. Im doing everything the correct way, the company way, and everytime I look past tomorrow, I feel like this company is going to just waste me when my 6 months or year is up, ruin a chance at another company.
Paranoia runs rampant here with me and even with slackster. We wake up afraid of everything and some days wonder about each other, so I know where you are coming from about looking in the rearview as if the company and cops are gunning for us.
Here's the deal. I fully understand what is neccessary here in this industry. I had a sister pass away in training, missed funeral. Daughter's one year birthday, long gone. Personally, I can accept the unpredictability and everything else to make it here in this business. But I can only be accountable for myself. I worked for this hometime. Slackster just took that away from me. Ive committed enough sins in life and paid for more than my share, I can't shoulder someone else's burden. Asking for another Co-driver is a #### shoot at best, company not even willing to give out phone numbers at this point. Sigh........They are trying to broom me and even slackster one at a time or together.
Anyways, guess Im asking how much weight will a year of experience carry with other companies? In that time I will have moved a little further away from my own past that haunts me, but not sure if enough. Im afraid this is all for naught, especially if company somehow screws my DAC.
I don't even know how I slid through the cracks here hearing some of the reasons they send other wannabe drivers packing. But I did, Im here.
Im good at hiding in plain sight, but the only thing that has honestly done for me here at this company is ruin any lines of communication that build decent relationships.
Thanks for insight guys -
Sounds like stevens...

I say rat the ####### out for doing dope. You don't need that POS driving while you're trying to sleep. Odds are it will still show up in his system. You hafta put up with a lot of #### when you're first starting out, but you shouldn't hafta put up with a doped up co driver.
Texas-Nana Thanks this. -
I say turn in the co driver for drug use and talk your lady friend into driving. Just a thought.
Otherwise......yeah your partner just had his way with you and didn't pull your nightie down afterwards. It wasn't the company.....it was your partner.kwray, GuysLady and simplyred1962 Thank this. -
Ive tried since day one to get her out on the road. I always knew better anyways. Young child at home and not the slightest bit interested regardless.
I dont even comprehend how the company can throw 2 people out there together who are completely new.. teaming is for friends/relatives/business partners/couples/etc... Certainly not for 2 ppl hand picked off the street, specially when they know squat about squat.
Good thing daddy gave me a good work ethic and some common sense or we'd be like dumb and dumber out here... and even still, it feels like that sometimes. The blind leading the blind. Just this morning I had to back into a dock that was from from ordinary, took me a good 15 minutes. Co-driver wants to be a helping hand and gets out.... After 3-4 minutes trying to let him guide me... I just brushed him off.
regarding turning him in...... not this time..... Besides, Im already on Co-Driver number 2. Can't stand the thought of being away from work or getting broomed out the company that way. Situation persists, then I will think it over some more -
Gee Nana......thats harsh!! Did the co driver at least wi......nevermind....LOL

This is the point of view from that of an EXPERIENCED driver's wife.... first to you:
Stick it out, but report your co-driver. You absolutely CANNOT allow him to endanger your safety or that of everyone around you. Period. I mean, honestly, it will be impossible for you to get home to visit with your lady or daughter if you end up in a pine box, right?
To her: Never believe he is coming home until you hear that truck pull into the driveway. Been there, done that, lost the t-shirt a LONG time ago.1nonly Thanks this. -

I learned that one a long time ago, during one precious, never to be forgotten summer with a local company... Most of what has stuck with me in this industry came from that one company, and I spent a whole summer on that yard, just absorbing everything that was there to be learned.... very seldom was something directly taught to you, you just kind of "absorbed" the information... Believe when I say that EVERY trucker's wife should have such a caring introduction to this business.
