I think Walmart had/has an exclusive with Murphy Express stations for a while. That they going on their own makes sense. Walmart’s been vertically integrating a lot of their portfolios. The meat plants, the milk plants, Walmart Delivery, all the new Great Value products and the new bettergoods brand, etc., and now gas stations? Of course. More control, can easily pass off the part of the business that doesn’t make them money.

As for us? We’re not apart of their customer base. A truck in their lot doesn’t do them any good, even if we shop for groceries. But a lot of trucks don’t patronize the store, but rather damage their property or trash it. Not to mention that we can get them in trouble with local regulations, for noise or pollution. We’re more of a hassle to them. Personally I wouldn’t want us either if I had to manage a store. We’re not entitled to park anywhere we want. We’re only guests and a lot of us are terrible “guests” who were never invited in the first place.

If anything you should be happy to hear more gas stations are being built. With all this crazy religious talk of ev’s replacing the gas in no time at all it seems the only charging stations around are Tesla built and few and far between but new gas stations are opening up every day seems like.

I'm in Louisiana but run 5 southern states. I havent seen a WM withOUT a gas station in as long as I can remember. We have two super WM's here locally, plus about 5 or so Neighborhood Market WM's. They all have fuel. As a matter of fact, one of the super WM's here has been selling gas so long, they just tore the old one down and rebuilt it from ... below ground ... up. Replaced tanks and all.
We have a Sam's here that has also sold fuel for at least 20 years.

These are all Murphy Oil as well.

Some Walmart gas stations are not Murphy Oil. They're just "Walmart". Pilot seems to deliver to a lot of them. They're just trying to cater to customer needs being one stop for all. And also pull in people who wouldn't normally shop there because everybody always looks for the cheapest gas. They should have done it everywhere thirty years ago.

Just like every other gas station. We have places we haul for that we don’t call for suppliers until we are next in line to load because they want the cheapest possible prices.

They were already in the gas game......Walmart has had gas stations going back since the 90s......at least in the south and midwest. Hell when I needed a Walmart, if I saw a Murphy Oil sign, that ws the indicator to exit stage right

    D.Tibbitt Thanks this.
