Yup another nikola. Doesnt suprise me. Also note the "took multiple fire departments" bit. Im waiting for one of these things to light off someplace really unfortunate...say in a tunnel or on a bridge.

Diesel fires are bad enough but they only burn at around 400-600 degrees or so and can be put out quickly and fairly easily and can use up all the air and but themselves out in enclosed spaces.

Lithium batterys on the other hand...they burn around 3600 degrees and take dozens of trucks worth of water to cool enough to pick up the peices and still have a chance of bursting back into flame. Plus they create their own oxygen too, So in an enclosed place like a tunnel they will burn till the fuel is gone. And at such tempratures it warps or damages support beams over a huge area. Keep in mind steel melts at only around 2500-2800 degrees.

Oh well. I shall enjoy watching as stuff like this gets ever worse.

I’m guessing not to many of these are gonna be parked inside a building. Bet they come with a warning label that says do not park next to or inside any structure keep 500 ft. away. We already know they cause cancer in California so it will also be labeled accordingly for that. Lol!

Several EVs lit off and almost gutted a car carrier ship in the last two weeks. The fire fighting systems on ships are all but useless for dealing with EVs.

Too bad they can’t just drop them overboard and let them sink before the ship burns down.

They are chained down and parked door-to-door and bumper-to-bumper.

A buddy of mine who’s the chief of a local volunteer fire department was telling me that they had a meeting specifically about dealing with ev battery fires and possibly the best way to control it is to cover the vehicle with dirt. Not exactly sure how this will work because they don’t need oxygen to burn but I told him to call me if they need some dirt or maybe I can bring in a big hoe and burry the pos

Just need to design a dump box that will dump forward. That way when the electric dump truck catches fire it can just bury itself.
