I was down in Midland Tx a couple of years ago...guy eastbound w/a RGN had a big rubber tire crane on deck...But he raised the boom to see, loaded over the back, (apparently ) jumped out & chained everything down & took off w/o lowering or chaining the boom.
Too bad for overpass, anti-two block sensors/switchgear (about $40K), and boom.

Some kid at the shipper was patting himself on the back for getting that load hauled so cheap when it happened probably. These guys need to shell out a little money and get stuff moved correctly.

If it was Modern, I've been in there & tried to talk to them- we are both regional so it should work, right? "We just put them in the computer....."

It used to be you could work with the salesmen, they give you work because they know you are good, safe, and reliable- and you talk them up in return "hey, if you need a machine talk to Stan at XYZ Machinery" everybody wins. Not like that anymore it seems, even the guys I still know can't help me "Corporate says we have to put it in the computer...."

There was a really good & honest FF locally that specialized in machines that closed her doors because of these "new policies", couldn't get enough $$$ for the trucks and wouldn't use just anyone that would take the load.

Ok, you state they put the order in the computer. So who then in corporate sends out what a mass email or spot bid order with brokers they have on file then??
    Just curious

Yep, who ever can give them the best price and guarantee a truck within a certain time frame gets the work. The outfits we do our rgn work with usually only call us for last minute or weekend rush stuff when the brokers aren't in the office. Heck, I'll take what I can get.
Another problem is that no one at these places stay put very long. You get to know the person who is in charge and next thing you know they've got someone new and you've got to start all over again. Just take the good with the bad and go along to get along.

@passingthru69 , the way I understand it from one of the sales guys I know; some have bought into software suites (one is by a guy that used to be with Komatsu) that they just input load & it goes out to all the brokers & carriers signed up, kind of a private, in-house load board. The dealer pays for the software & for the software vendor to "qualify" the carriers & brokers.

I had a good thing going with H&E here, guy I'd worked with for years went to work there when they opened in Kent and it was great. Until I called and they said they had a new way of getting carriers and to call this number and get set up. Called the number- "Plant Site Logistics, how can I help you?". Crap.

Ok, so it's a spot bid like some of the other shippers do.
Bid stays open so long, has to be picked up by a certain time. Low bidder gets the haul and customer hopes their ld. gets there not tore up...

Dye Guardian and cnsper Thank this.

Ok, Thanks Rgn. I have seen plant site logistics pop up on the load boards before and wondered if that was Daily. They have a different service name though I believe.

When I said I had 1 truck, the PSL lady laughed & pretty much said "run along little boy".

That really bites, for the small person trying to make a living.
Oh, Daily is plant site loading services.. They have the contract for spot bids with Deere and the loading contracts at most Deere plants, except Waterloo.. Warren, has that and they are owned by ATS

    RGN Thanks this.
