I got my truck!
I'll be outfitting my big rig tomorrow at 8:00am in Salem,OR.
I've picked up a 4.5CF two door ref/freezer,a small microwave,a mini coffeemaker and I got myself a netbook with Verizon wireless built in so I can be online anywhere.
I also picked up a Garmin Nuvi 465T GPS for commercial vehicles and packed my old Midland CB radio so I'm pretty well set.
I can't say I don't have a serious case of butterflies in the stomach lol but I'm up for the challenge.![]()
Another headed to Salem....

BOL on your new solo adventure. What kind of truck did you get?
-
Thanks guys.
Ya know I plum forgot to ask lol.
Probably a Pete 387,seems like they make up the lion's share of the fleet.
There was a brand new KW T700 in Brooks the other day that all the drivers were drooling over, not likely I'll get one of those but there's a slim chance I'll get an IH Prostar.(very slim)

Yup a Pete it is........4451

Yeah more then likely! I wonder what my chances are of getting a T700. I would want to take it for a ride first and see whats up! Not sure how many their getting I have heard rumors, you know how that goes tho! Take care brother trucker and see you on the big road! Welcome aboard! -
Thanks TS.....I'm in a Pete #4451.
I heard they are only getting 10 of the KWs for now,I was watching the decals get hung on one today at Brooks. -
ALRIGHTY, i'm finally back home, got my own truck on October 5th, it's a 2007 pete 387 #4393, first time i've been home in over a month and i'm plum exhausted. i don't think i'll ever stay out a full month again, just too many things to deal with at home for me to be gone that long. that and being away from home isn't the best feeling in the world, WELL i've been looking for you out there TruckerSteve, every cascadia i drive by i study as hard as i can going (IZZAT HIM!?) lol
i have only one gripe about May so far in the month i've been working for them... DIRECTIONS
almost every one of the directions requests i've recieved back have either been flat out wrong, or have been very hard to understand. other than that everyone at may seems to be very kind and willing to help you out.
My list of rookie mistakes in one month:
1. took a wrong turn, got into a situation i couldn't back out of in Seattle, had to call tow service, they gave me good hand signals and we got it backed out very slowly.
2. didn't slide my tandems on the trailer in California, went over the scales in Gilroy, got my first ticket ever in my life... still waiting for the amount i owe to come in the mail...
3. wrong directions sent me to the base of the "MONTGOMERY" building in Portland, Or... had to call Portland Police to stop traffic so i could turn around.
and other little things here and there. those are the big one's though, first one happened on my very first load.
