I just saw the procession on I-294. I swear there must have been 1,000 police vehicles. And Unfortunately I had the cb on and heard the trash talk from some very stupid disrespectful drivers.
Another IL trooper killed by semi .

He was a police officer nonetheless. A police officer who was killed by a truck driver. How about you try showing a little respect. I'm sure his family doesn't care about your thoughts.NavigatorWife and Marksteven Thank this.

...and I'm sure the families of the victims of the shootings and other crimes that were taking place elsewhere in the city would have preferred the city cops actually be doing their jobs instead of standing around with their hands in their pockets watching the ISP investigate the crash which didn't involve anybody from the Chicago PD. All I'm saying is that there were more important things that those officers could have been doing besides standing around watching the investigation.

Oh yeah. A few years back in a bad snow storm there was a fatal roll over.
Because the weather was sooo bad the driver was dead by the time they found him.
Even after the storm let up some the road was still too bad to be open.
So they chained up a tow truck and sent him out to pick up the car and bring it back to the FD station.
No need to send rescue trucks way out of town on solid ice for body removal when they might be needed closer to population centers.
In this case I can see where they wouldn't want to block traffic for as long as it was going to take to recover a body.
And with it being a trooper you know they are going to do an in depth investigation into the whole thing.
This driver is likely to hang, especially in a state that doesn't like trucks to start with. -
cops need to stop pulling peole off onto the shoulder, period
if the shoulder is as dangerous as they say it is, then stop pulling people onto shoulder, its just common sense
they put themselves and their victim in harms way by having them sit on the shoulder, all for a ticket70s_driver, osokusmc and NavigatorWife Thank this. -
I agree at times it doesn't seem like they look out for every one's safety very well.
Typically left shoulders are VERY narrow and pulling some one over on the left shoulder is going to block a lane.25(2)+2 Thanks this. -
My heart goes out to the family.
Brotherhood starts with the first person to say hello to the next. Each person who minds only their own needs is where it ends. But all that is for another thread.NavigatorWife and 25(2)+2 Thank this.
