Nope may or may not be a dumb move like I said a giant 20 pound lock draws alot of attention. I rather have it in my door pocket to bust some heads or kneecaps with if needed. Jk
An unlocked trailer with a seal also draws attention. Especially of petty thieves who don't want to be bothered with a difficult lock but are curious. Lots of them around.
True I guess putting the lock on when I'm parked is a good idea. I don't think I'll get truck jacked with 100 other trucks around. On the road though going through some of these places I go like Memphis the less bling the better I would think.
Most of the companies I'm familiar with have been trucking a long time and dealt with many theft [attempt] experiences in their history. At some point, they all decided to implement a mandatory lock policy, empty or loaded. They apparently determined more unlocked trailers were messed with than locked trailers. So I'll defer to their vast fleet experiences over many decades, over my limited personal experiences.
yeah this would only be an issue if you were going to a place thats very strict on checking seals, Mc Donalds is one if the seal is missing or the seal don't match the same seal number listed on the BOL they'll refuse the entire load. And yeah if you had produce go missing then you'd have some explaining to do, although it don't mean its your fault, a seal is no guarantee that goods will not be stolen just ensures that you have proof nothings been touched while in your care.
Yeah. Don't want to come from a weekend at home and find a group of homeless people squatting in your trailer and have to deal with that situation.
