Yea, I know. it was weird when it happened.

The roadwork might have just been coincidental. They had been working on that stretch of road doing resurface work for a week so it was all messed up. Motorcycles use extreme caution signs and such. Manhole covers sticking inches out of the ground, large steel plates covering holes that they had dug, grooves in the road.

Maybe I did feel the impact but the road was so messed up it could have went unnoticed.

Maybe it was nails or screws too.

I didn't look at the tires closely 'cause I was busy. I just let the guy fix it and it wasn't 'till I returned the truck that the counter guy said it was impact damage.

I didn't argue with him 'cause it was my word against his and he already had my deposit.

Frankly, I really don't care if you or anyone else thinks it's fishy or not.

I wasn't trying to make up a story. It would do no good. That incident happened quite some time ago.

I didn't get sued. I lost a $100 deposit. The rental company got 2 brand new tires.

I was trying to make a point that if a person doesn't document and inspect something themselves that they are at someone else's mercy.

Now that the fun is over, Did you really do a Pre trip? You might be eating some other drivers sloppy work. A lesson you ate the hard way.

I did a pretrip. I do not use a thumper. I air guaged every tire. The rim was not bent prior to me pulling the trailer. It is not on someone else. There was no bang. The tire did not blow out. This is why I think it leaked down. I never felt a hard impact. The private entrance road and the customer's property were covered in fresh snow. I guess it is possible that the damage occurred at low speed exiting the customer's property but I doubt it. Frankly, I am grasping at straws. Have been the whole time. I have no clue how the rim got damaged. I could see curbing the right side but unlikely on the left.

I can not imagine any flat road surface that would damage the rim of a flat tire, when three other tires on that side are inflated.

Even the nastiest potholes I have seen in chicago and in chicago rail yards...
