Wasn't alone 3 other Millis drivers waiting as well. Was told by dispatch that the D/C in Shelby has 48 hours to get you loaded. Of course they did it in 47 so my trainer did not get lay over pay. Got there Mon at 2:30pm, two drivers left out Tues afternoon the other driver left wed a.m and we left wed at 2pm. Guess its all a part of the life.

Thanks for the thread. I have enjoyed reading your comments about your experience with Millis. Will they hire a recent grad from a community college or do they require that you get your CDL through them if you have no experience?

They only hire students from their school. They will hire experienced drivers though.

As wulfman said, they require you to go through their training if you have less than 1 year experience even though you have already attained your CDL. I would suggest looking at the big picture and write down the pro's and con's if you are thinking about Millis. Training time vs other companies, training pay vs other companies, etc... Base your decision on Millis or any company that fits your needs and wants. Best of luck to you.

Yeah that menards in Iowa always takes a while to get back out of there since we dont have but a couple of trailers there. The one time i was there i got lucky and got right back out after my 10 hour break was over.

Very busy remainder of the week once I finally got out of Richfield. Picked up a load going to Cherokee. I got to see a little of the damage and some flooding down in that area. It's sad what those people went through. My prayers go out to them and their family's.

Dropped in Cherokee, picked up a load in MS to take to Eau Claire. Dropped there and picked up a load to bring to Trenton, which is where I sit now. It hasn't stopped raining since I got here yesterday evening. Like the snow, I've had enough of the rain already. Somebody turn the faucet off!!

According to the news this morn they got Bin Ladin. I guess we'll have to wait and see since they have no body to show proof, lol.

    Be safe and drive hard!

It's been a few days so I thought I would add a little. I dropped a load in Trenton on Saturday night and took my 10 hr break. I woke up to "no loads". Went to bed Saturday night to "no loads". Figured f it I'll get a restart in. Finally Sunday after got a load to pick up in Lapel, In. Load will be ready for pickup in the a.m. Ok no problem, that gives me time to finish my restart and Lapel is only 100 miles away.

Picked up in Lapel yesterday morn and found out another driver was picking up and going to the same place in Eau Claire. It was nice to have somebody to run with for a change. Though we didn't talk a lot on the CB we did talk a little here and there and stopped for lunch. Quite a change from running alone and eating alone all the time. I enjoyed the company. Funny we never asked each other's name and just called each other "Millis" on the CB, lol.

Dropped in Eau Claire this morning and at 0830 got a load to pickup in La Crosse going to Evendale, OH. Originally it was a 0500 scheduled pickup and was a drop n hook. COOL! Got here about 12:15 and was informed there was no loaded trailer and it wasn't scheduled to be loaded until 0100 hrs. Are you freakin kidding me?

So here I sit waiting for my dispatcher to get back from lunch with an answer. I'm sure it will be "sorry man, can you hang out until then?" Like I have a choice. It would make more sense to me to send me somewhere else to pickup now and have somebody who is dropping in Eau Claire later tonight to come by here. But I have a feeling I'm not going anywhere for a while. Sux balls

Took the weekend off for some hometime. I was able to get the bike out and ride for a couple of hours with the wife. Heading back out in the morning but it was good to take a couple of days off and recharge my batteries.
