Ha! I finally got an air-card and up and running. My apologies for no recent updates.
First off, don't let any of these post's spook you. Is Millis perfect? Of course not. But up to this point they seem to me to be a pretty decent company to work for. The guy said give it 3 years? I know drivers here with 5+ years and still here voluntarily. Why? There must be a reason.
Not everybody is going to favor a company and not every company is going to hand feed the driver's. It has it's ups and downs. But for myself, I would say it is 95% ups at this point.
Anyway, enough ranting on the negativity. I've been running pretty hard the past month. Had the joy of being in Atlanta during their ice storm of the century. That really sucked. After sitting for 12 hours in a truck stop I finally got to get back on the road and to my destination.
On the equipment being crap, my truck is an 07 T6. It's in great condition if you ask me. I had some electrical issues my first week with it. Turned out to be somebody installed 2 new batteries with 2 old batteries. That doesn't work well. But they got it sorted out. Haven't had any issues since.
I've been averaging about 2600 miles or so a week. That's AVERAGING. One week I had 2200 and some change, 2 weeks I had 3000 +. Gotta take the good with the bad.
I've been in the crappy weather for the past 3 weeks, mostly up north mid and north east. Cold as hell and crappy conditions. But it's all in a days work. Again the bad with the good. When Spring comes it will be a blast.
Currently sitting in a rest area about 100 miles east of Richmond, VA off of I-64 doing my 10 hour break. Destination is West Point, VA with a delivery time 0800-1500, so no rush. I'm 2 hours out. Plan on being there by 0730 so hopefully can get unloaded a little early and send for my next load.
Newbies, sincere best of luck to you in your new career. Don't let the "ex-Millis" drivers shake you up. Everybody has their reasons for leaving and staying. You can only pave your own path and make your own judgments by your own personal experience, not somebody else's.
Everybody be safe and keep on trucking!

Man what an f'd up couple of days this has been. Started out Wednesday to pick up a load in Karns City, PA. Broker load, they said take Route 68 West from I-80. DO NOT TAKE A BIG TRUCK ON THIS ROAD! It was an adventure to say the least and dangerous. Twisties, hills, more twisties, 90 degree turns in little Mayberry towns. Sphyncter pucker scale-8. Loaded up and headed to NC to deliver. Mission accomplished.
They deadheaded me to Eden to pick up a beer load to Randolph, MA. Got lost heading out of Eden and wound up in BFE Virginia driving on backwoods roads at night. Took me about 2.5 hrs of driving to get back on route. Sucked! Sphyncter pucker scale-6.5. But being night time it wore me out physically and mentally.
Now I am sitting in Branford, CT waiting to head up to Randolph in the morn to deliver. Weather is calling for 3-5" of snow in the morning. Should be yet another adventure.
I was supposed to be there at 1230 today, but did not get to Eden until 1300 yesterday. I thought I was late because of my f/u, but doing the math this is a 25 hr trip anyway and no way could I be here by 1230 when I didn't leave Eden until 1330. 750 miles/50 mph=15 hrs driving, throw in a 10 hr break=25 minimum. And that's minimum since I have to drive through NYC and all the other glorious cities on I-95.
Now I'm just hoping they give me a good long haul out of here for the weekend. My miles suck for this week. -
Just talked with Millis, filled out an app. and waiting on next step. I was told to check back tomorrow and they had 1 spot left in the feb. 14 class in Ga.
Bear63 you seem to be having a good experience with millis. (so Far) I know each an every driver will have a different story, some good and the most bad. Not because of the company, but some people would Bit$h if they were hung with a new rope.. -
hey bear if it is not late at night it is usually quicker to grab 287 in NJ and take it back around to 95 in CT also usually less traffic
-
oh yeah if you really want to miss all the traffic you can go up 81N to to 78E in PA then take that to 287N to 95 if you want to
-
Pick up 287 going west or east? Going west it looks like it adds about 40 miles as compared to going 95. I don't see where it splits off going east.
Hey I'm all for missing NJ and NY traffic! haha -
-
it only goes west off of 95 on the south side in new jersey it is longer but usually still quicker during the day when there is alot of traffic out.

Now that i have read the complete thread I am hoping to get on with Millis. It seems that the company is taking care of their drivers. I have been checking this out for about 2 weeks now and I have spoken with several other companies, but when i spoke with the Millis rep. i just got a gut feeling that this company is the one.
Also, reading the threads about other companies and the problems drivers have gone through, I haven't seen all the negitive about Millis as with other companies.
Any thoughts from others would be helpfull.
