The best fuel mileage I ever achieved was with my last truck, when it was hooked to a wrecker.

Here are some numbers of the Volvo below. It does have the D-13 500hp Eco torque engine with the I Shift. If I run our dedicated run into CA from WA. I will usually average about 9.0mpg on the way to CA. Light weight around 15 to 20k, but usually 4 pick ups in OR and 2 drops in CA. Coming back to WA with a produce load it will come down to 7.8 to 8.3mpg.

When I haul onions out of OR and bring produce back to WA I usually end up anywhere between 7.0 and 7.5mpg that is being heavy both ways. Usually 79k+ on the way down and around 78k back North.

If I run an older trailer with ###### tires and no skirts I will see a .5mpg drop on my fuel mileage.

I have seen over 10mpg running with an empty 53' reefer trailer.

I do pay attention to fuel mileage, but if I would get a fuel bonus I would work on it a lot harder and you would not see 45psi boost going up the hills.

Stopped for the night in Sloan, IA. MPG shown below:

    20130906_220519.jpg

The truck is a 2000 International 9400 with N14 and 13 speed, 1.1M miles. Pulling a 53 step deck loaded with aluminum plate, 15K on the lower deck, tarped and stacked about 6" above the height of the top deck.

FYI - you're showing 9000 miles (give or take) on 1188 gallons purchased = 7.57 mpg overall since purchasing that truck. not too shabby for the old girl.

And that includes the idle time. Just think how good it will get with the 'apu' :)

My old truck that the boss drives now is an 03' T600 with an N14 and a Super10. It runs similar fuel mileage numbers to your truck.
