Well I talked to the head dispatcher and explained my concerns and ( rightfully so I got chewed for not saying anything sooner ) but he more or less said for now deal with it, but come visit him after I take my test tomorrow pass or fail. So I will bust my butt to pass but we shall see.

Control what u can control now. Lesson learned. Focus on what u know. Put energy into recalling experience & watching others. You'll get through it!

I guess I didnt help my case with my trainer, because I fulled off a trifecta, Its mainly because I had to teach myself, with a little help of a another trainer here and there was a big help. The night before my trainer was saying i dont think your ready, but after I did it, he was bragging to everybody " I knew he could do it!!!" Im like WTF!!!!

Ok where do I start, when I went in to fill out my w-4 paperwork I saw that head dispatcher( I think that is who he is I don't wanna drop names here ). He asked me if I was going to stay with my trainer ? I told him yes , only because the day before I brought up the lack of communication between him and I. He said no problem he will fix that. Well that lasted as long as I told the dispatcher that I was staying. Yes I know chuck my fault for taking somebody for there word, my fault. And since he don't know the answers to most questions I ask him, I will ask everybody else. First off how long is TnT? Is it my miles or combined miles? Because I am tracking both. 2nd when do I get to fill out this survey after TNT or psd or both? 3rd since I don't know what I don't know, what all is to be expected for me to learn in TNT ? He makes it sound like its a few macros and a few forms. There has to be more to it than that.??? Is it stuff in the binder that was issued to me? Because when I asked him about the binder he said my last student never did any of that. I'm open to any help.

Nominally 30,000 miles, but it can be shorter in the case of an excellent driver or longer due to accidents, tickets or someone who just doesn't get it. At the discretion of your FM or trainer. Chuck or Sazook might want to weigh in on this since I don't train. That being said, you should talk with your FM regularly.

All dispatched miles to the truck loaded and empty. You get those numbers off of the first page of a load assignment on the Qualcomm.

Certainly after TnT. I can't say about PSD myself since I never went through it.

There's a lot more to driving a large CMV than what you got as a PSD student. TnT is where they take off the training wheels. At this point you hardly know how to back a truck, let along do it skillfully in a busy DC... and you've barely scratched the surface as to differing conditions you'll be expected to drive in. Yup, there are macros to learn, paperwork to fill out, how to deal with RA.

How about just how to drive the truck economically for best fuel mileage? That ain't no 4-wheeler your driving now.

As to the binder... do the work. TnT trainers vary in quality, and how much they pass on to the student. Let your FM know how your experience is going, and make sure you ask lots of questions. Like... do you know whether it's better to have more weight on the drive axles or tandems on a heavily loaded trailer? That kind of knowledge isn't what you get from driving under a permit.

    Sinker,

    Read: http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr...27-new-prime-inc-what-expect-springfield.html

    And: http://www.thetruckersreport.com/truckingindustryforum/prime/158953-class-starting-25-oct-11-a.html

Unfortunately, it sounds like you will have to do alot of the training with you taking the lead. Look through that binder in the TnT section and look through all of those tasks listed. I would recommend starting at the driving tasks, then the shipper/receiver tasks, then the Qualcomm tasks, then the paperwork tasks, then the trip planning tasks. With this breakdown you should have a week for each set of tasks. If you follow the order I posted, they will kinda build on each other as you progress. Make sure you are calling your FM weekly, no excuses. Be honest with him, but don't get personal. Tell him how the training is going, and where you are with the training. You will have to have ambition and work hard yourself. It is the only way to ensure that you learn everything you can.

Update, not much to say, Im almost at 30,000 miles into TnT and just got home for my first official home time since I started with Prime. I so needed it. I was getting fried. My trainer said " I don't even like going home" So I guess TnT will go a little faster than some. I'm just chugging alone. I have did everything in my binder. I feel like I have had to teach myself most of everything. I guess that is the best way to learn. Hopefully sooner than later I be done with TnT and moving on to the next phase of my driving career.

Well when I came off home time I asked my fm about when I was going to upgrade and he said I like keeping guys out for 50k miles. So that means I have 20k to go. A week and a half into this trip and I've only got in 5k miles. My trainer has had to remind the fm this is a team truck. We are only avg 500 miles a day. This is boring. Rather be driving than sitting.
