    If you're going the OTR company-paid training route, I'd suggest looking for an outfit that has a terminal (the bigger, the better) near you. You have a free place to park the truck, it's alot easier to get you home on time because you can just drop your trailer in the yard, and if the truck needs a PM or maintenance you can schedule it on your hometime.

    Once your year is up, alot of other options open up for you.

    You got laid off. You qualify for government grant to pay for CDL school.

    You can get the grant even if you didn't get laid off. I was straight up fired from my job before I got my CDL. They never asked about that job. They just had me do a lot of leg work to get the grant. The time table was 3 weeks roughly
