Hello folks. I'm entering truck driving school in the coming weeks. I have zero exposure to the industry so websites like this have been crucial to my decision making process. Thanks for being here. I figure it's time to jump in and start giving back where I can.

At the moment I'm leaning toward pursuing a tanker job with Schnider. I'm hoping I can make contact with some guys in the field on here and learn a little more about what I can expect.

    Dive safe.

Good move going with tankers right out of school.
Once you get some experience with Schneider Bulk, you can go with Tidewater or A&R Transport in Decatur if you want a terminal closer to home. Schneider Bulk is a good choice though. Buy a good set of hearing protection; those pumps can be loud. A gun store sells excellent hearing protection for use at shooting ranges; that's what I used.

Fantastic advice. Thank you very much, Chinatown. I will get ear-pro immediately and start learning about Tidewater (which I hadn't heard of).

Tanks seem to come along with a higher earning potential. I'd eventually like to get into gasoline or some other hazmat fun. Like any other industry, specialization is the way to go, right?

    :)
