Experienced drivers will start out making up to 50 cents per mile. Top drivers make well over $75,000 per year and drive new Kenworth T680 and T880 rigs. CDL license is required. Scheduled home time and Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance coverage.

I don't know about "on call". I worked for Tankstar which owns Rogers and haven't heard anything about "on call."

Rodgers Cartage in Alabaster, Al said they don't do schedules. Its they call you when loads available. You drive to terminal and leave out.

This is where I was told on Monday that I am hired. It seems to be a decent place to start out. My terminal will be in Pennsylvania.

You know guys, it was more of a statement than anything else.

I am tired of seeing drivers getting screwed over, training should be more than just getting a passing grade by someone who just decided to be a trainer, we need actual training specs in this industry to bring new drivers up to speed. I been wondering if there isn't a need for an additional schooling to qualify new drivers to be road ready, this 180 hour or what ever is a joke. I was looking at the training material and the crap they don't teach that is needed.

But to the OP, it is great that you are looking ahead, you're in the minority of drivers who want more. I would suggest look at the Smith System to get more safety related training.

So, After talking to probally every company you guys suggested, and all I googled. I'm headed to Swift in Atlanta, Ga Sunday evening. They have a dry van account that gets me home weekly, and I will get 150 hours of 1 on 1 training. 3 day orientation as well.

Chinatown , do you know if those Kenworths are usually 13 speeds ? I like what ive read about them and they do hire out of my area but I did not do well with a 13, the 10 was more fun haha.

I read they've been buying more new trucks, so you should call the company and ask about the transmissions.
