Chinatown , do you know if those Kenworths are usually 13 speeds ? I like what ive read about them and they do hire out of my area but I did not do well with a 13, the 10 was more fun haha.

Just shift it like a 9 speed and split high gear. Was plenty of times I wished I could have split high gear in the dump trucks I have driven with the 8LL. They do some screaming running 75mph in 8th(or 9th depending on how you want to look at it)

Hello, I'm yet another newbie. I live in Warrior, Alabama with my wife, and 3 kids. I just got my cdl's from a 6 week course, have no restrictions, and have NT endorsements. I have no criminal history, accidents, and my last job was regulated by hours of service, but I have no tractor trailer experience.

I have been researching for about two months, and have applied mainly local companies. These companies after going in person, and calling aren't giving me a shot to prove myself. Don't hurt to try right? So, I have decided maybe weekly hometime is my next shot. Ct transportation, mcelroy trucking, werner and schneider trucking all have offered restart time at home weekly. I know little about CT, Mcelroy sounds good, but Im concerned about miles and short haul, werner has an DG account and I'd hate to ruin my career early trying to get in some of those lots, and then Schneider, home depot account, possible weekly hometime and restart. My only concern there is, will they live up to that? And how is the pay? Customers? ETC.

I'm open to suggestions, ideas, and comments. If I have to go to a two week/restart Id prefer that to be my third option.

Some things I would like is:
1 on 1 training
Paid training/orientation
Paid Travel to training
Would like automatic trucks, but I can shift ok.
Southeast/Midwest routes
Company, I wouldn't have to abandon ship for awhile if at all.
I prefer to haul 1) dry van 2) flatbed 3) reefer. In that order. Heard reefers are loud and people cut them off. Lol
