@1278PA we weren't suggesting you should have stabbed him. Not at all.
You did the right thing, keeping your cool.

The self defense tools are for when things get out of control and they don't fight fair (head kickers etc), and multiple attackers.
It does happen. This is not a place that lands you in a friendly spot every night.
Keep a little sumthin in the hole, and pray you never need it.
    Call it your ACE.

I'll check out the TacPen. I carry a Zebra pen right now.
Had it handy a couple of weeks ago on an international flight. Some clown and his wife & child decided they didn't want to sit in the row in front of us because they assumed our children might disturb them. He ran his mouth a little and the stewardess offered to upgrade us to first class for free if we would move. I refused and told her to move them because I wasn't going anywhere. She did move them, but to the rear of the plane, not to first class. My children are well behaved, so he didn't know what he was talking about anyway.
The stewardess apologized to us for his rude behavior. I wouldn't have attacked the guy anyway, until we were in USA airspace, so we could at least land in the USA after the incident.

    Thank you, @jammer910Z

Get underneath it as far as possible. Pump up the air suspension, crank the landing gear down. Lower the suspension. Slide underneath. Nothing to get worked over. And the guard is on the side of the yard dog. He's telling you scary stories because he wants you to steer clear. But why are you talking to the guard? That's a complete waste of time and will only serve to frustrate you more.

Like the Jammer said, 'some times, we gotta work." Enhance your calm.

Lol the assumptions this proving my point about the industry. I knew the trick and work is no problem for me but when the yard dog got me.fired up I wasn't focused.

Sometimes we gotta work? When don't I work in this? I usually only have time to take a #### and that's rushed.

I lost count how many times I have had a yard driver to lift a trailer for me, or pull one out that was packed in so tight that I could not get to the landing gear. I can't ever remember having one mouth off at me. Not trying to be difficult but the word (another) used in that post jumped out at me. With all due respect i'm thinking you need to drop the attitude and remember to ask nicely. It always worked for me!

    You know what they say-
    Truckin' ain't for pus....

If the problem of the day is a low sitting trailer... That's a good day.

If you haven't already figured this out, a lot of trucking is solving problems....all kinds of them. You want something solved, most often the fastest way is to do it yourself. So become more resourceful. This is a very minor issue. If you are going to quit driving over this then you are a pansy. Perhaps a milk hauling gig in upstate ny would be more suitable for you..........

You can say degenerate it's ok. I'm glad you were there but no attitude was given the security guard actually asked him based on the previous fights with other drivers. Glad you were there though why didn't you offer this advice there?

I treat people exactly how they treat me and these degenerates don't like when I send the plate right back.

Assume all you want it don't change reality.

    "Was the reason"
    So, you did quit?
Some customer gave you an attitude and you didn't like it? If you act like an ### to a customer you risk your carrier losing the customer. I would fire a driver for being an ### at one of my customers.
What else happen? Wait in fuel line every time? No parking at the hours you need a space? Load planning inefficient? Life just plain kinda sucks in otr trucking?

I am curious to know the reasons that drives away a recently licenced driver out of the profession so we can possibly make changes to make the driving easier for us all. A better way forward, you know?

That attitude is a great start. Now channel that aggression into cranking a landing gear for about 30 seconds in high gear, and TADA!!! You are now under the trailer.

That sucks. I've never had problems with yard spotters. Any time I have ever asked them for help they have always been very professional. Don't let it get you down. Take the advice of some of the old hats and keep pushing on.
