Another on brakes...

    Auto slackers work as they should, provided they are greased and that full brake applications are made so they take up slack. Being that a lot of companies don’t grease the slacks, s cams. etc and driver’s don’t do pump down tests, they can get out of adjustment and strip out the clutch over time. So I adjust them as necessary, might as well until they put it OOS and replace the slack adjuster.

    How about the shop that throws on a new set of slacks but doesn't adjust them. They are auto slacks so they will adjust themselves...... Not always. Slacks that need grease won't either.

    I'd always crawl under the trailert and give them a pull to see where they are at. You'd be surprised at how often they are out.
