I wasn't working for them at the time they closed...but I believe Ameritruck just wanted to expand too quickly without having the bank account to do so. They went on a huge acquisition spree and wound up being in debt because of it. They filed for bankruptcy around 98'. Transtar was one of many that were shutdown because of it.......

I didnt know ameritruck swallowed up Lynn and Thompson bros .Cabinover101 and Sho Nuff Thank this. -
Ameritruck didn't bother changing the names of all the companies they bought but they did slap on their logo on some of the trailers. I wound up starting with a Transtar Freightshaker...later switched to a Lynn Volvo...pulling Monfort trailers or any of the other trailers that they owned. It became confusing at times because people didn't know who I worked for...lol.bzinger and Cabinover101 Thank this. -
Sometimes AFTER a company goes bankrupt employees will be given bonuses to stay until the last day so operations can be wound down instead of just yanking the plug and turning out the lights. The bonuses can be large to persuade key employees to come to work instead of racing to their next job.bzinger Thanks this. -
